Chapter 79: Zerg 13 Suddenly, its wings trembled.……

Lancaster Family, in a lounge on the second floor of the banquet hall.

Amoris and Evan, having returned from the storage room, weren’t in a hurry to go back to the banquet hall.

This lounge was exclusively for the Lancaster family head, Evan. After leaving the dim and lengthy corridor, Evan avoided the crowds and brought Amoris here.

Inside the room was a delicate projection device. With a light touch from Evan, a virtual blue screen appeared out of thin air, realistically presenting the events happening downstairs to them.

Every person in the picture, even their individual hairs, was clearly visible, as if they were right there in person.

Amoris’s eyes scanned back and forth, and suddenly, his gaze stopped.

It was a sub-male. He looked no different from other sub-males, with a cute appearance and gentle temperament.

He nestled in the arms of a stout male beside him, his face flushed, and upon closer inspection, his body seemed to be trembling uncontrollably.

And under the delicate clothing, several unnatural red marks were faintly visible on his body.

    They were… whip marks.

Seeing Amoris’s gaze lingering on an unfamiliar sub-male, Evan looked over in the same direction.

A sub-male he didn’t recognize. However, he had some impression of the male next to him.

“Baron Albert. I heard he recently discovered a mine and made a lot of money. He’s riding high right now,” Evan introduced to Amoris, but saw that the other’s gaze was still on the unfamiliar sub-male. “What? Do you know this sub-male?”

    Amoris shook his head.

He didn’t know this sub-male, but this sub-male wasn’t unfamiliar to him.

He had seen him before, at that auction.

In the narrow, dimly lit backstage area, rows of iron cages held the female insects, and this sub-male was among them.

Since it was the last item to be auctioned, Amoris had seen all the sub-males at that auction.

He watched them leave the dim little room one by one.

Although he later destroyed that auction, he remembered that the sub-male’s turn to go on stage was relatively early, and now he realized he must have been bought and taken away long ago.

Amoris withdrew his gaze and looked back at Evan: “Then for the first target, I choose Baron Albert.”

Evan revealed a playful smile: “But he’s just a small baron. As our first transaction, don’t you think it’s too simple?”

“From him, I don’t think we can get any useful information.”

“But I think you should be interested in that mine.”

Amoris responded calmly, not intimidated by the difficulty in Evan’s tone.

Hearing this, Evan’s eyes lit up slightly, and a look of pleasant surprise flashed through them: “You’re smarter than I thought. Perhaps—”

“Keeping you might be a mistake.”

“But you have to keep me now, and continue to keep my identity a secret,” Amoris said as if he didn’t hear the threat in Evan’s words, “because we have a common interest now.”

Interests can bind people together tightly.

Evan wanted to replace the force behind the K27 star system in order to restore the Lancaster family to its former glory, and Amoris was the knife in his hand. And the price Evan had to pay was to provide Amoris with a batch of materials that could only be obtained on the black market, aside from the research institute.

As far as Amoris was concerned, the force behind the K27 star system was his enemy, and what could be better than solving his enemy while also obtaining a batch of materials he wanted?

    This was their deal.

The two had reached an alliance.

But even so, neither of them would let down their guard against the other.

After determining the target, Amoris was about to leave when Evan stopped him.

Amoris gave Evan a slightly puzzled look, but Evan didn’t respond immediately, just smiled and turned to walk towards a cabinet against the wall.

A few seconds later, Evan returned, and unlike before, he was holding a small velvet box.

Evan stretched out his hand and handed it to Amoris, the smile on his face unchanged.

As if not noticing the strangeness vaguely revealed in Evan’s eyes, Amoris took it from Evan’s hand extremely naturally.

The black velvet material felt soft and smooth to the touch, reflecting a shimmering light under the light, without any dust. And the deep black color seemed to attract all attention, like Pandora’s box, tempting people to open it.

    “Click.”

Amoris opened the box, and after just one glance at the contents, he raised his eyes and looked at Evan with a teasing expression.

    “This is…?”

“‘Manni’.” Evan paused deliberately when he said these two words, his eyes sweeping across Amoris’s face, seemingly trying to find some expression that would satisfy him.

Unfortunately, he didn’t achieve his goal.

Amoris’s expression when he heard these two words was exactly the same as his expression when someone chatted with him about the weather, unable to stir up even the slightest ripple.

Evan put on a regretful expression, shrugged, and continued:

“Okay. Maybe you can call him ‘Alpha’, ‘Beta’, whatever. Anyway, the name doesn’t matter.”

“What matters is that what you want is already inside.”

Hearing this, Amoris’s expression changed slightly, he lowered his eyes slightly, and looked at the velvet box in his hand again, his eyes lighting up a bit. It seemed that only now did this exquisite ornament arouse his interest.

    Thoughts returned to the past.

The Lancaster family’s storage room had a considerable amount of space, with several cabinets placed against the walls. And Evan kept walking in front of these cabinets, occasionally opening a few drawers, but quickly closing them again.

At first, Amoris thought that the storage room was in a remote location, with good soundproofing, so that the conversation could be guaranteed to be safe, so Evan had taken him here in such a roundabout way.

Now it seemed that the Lancaster family head was hiding quite a few secrets.

Amoris’s thoughts turned extremely quickly, and finally, he focused his gaze on the ring on the index finger of the Lancaster family head’s right hand – an old-fashioned, but well-maintained, bronze ring.

“This is… a spatial item?” Amoris tentatively asked his question, his gaze still sweeping back and forth between the ring on Evan’s index finger and the brooch in his hand.

Hearing this, Evan didn’t directly answer Amoris’s question, but instead took a step forward, closing the distance with Amoris.

He had a faint smile on his lips, and upon closer inspection, there was a hint of scrutiny in the way he looked at Amoris.

“Not putting it on?” Evan said, “I feel… this brooch suits you surprisingly well.”

As he spoke, the two’s gazes fell on the blue brooch in the velvet box at the same time.

Amoris’s hand held the black velvet box, the white contrasting sharply with the black, which also made Amoris’s knuckles look particularly attractive.

The inside of the box was lined with the same black velvet material as the outside, and in the very center of the box, a blue butterfly lay quietly.

The butterfly wings were extremely thin, and the sea-blue gemstones inlaid in the silver metal reflected dazzling light. It was unknown which master created it, but it looked lifelike under the light, as if it could flap its wings and leave in the next second.

    But it couldn’t escape.

A silver snake was tightly wrapped around the butterfly wings. The snake’s body was thin and long, and at first glance, it seemed that the butterfly could skillfully squeeze out of the gap, but upon closer inspection, it became clear that all struggles were in vain.

The butterfly was destined to be trapped in this world, until it used the last bit of its strength to flap its wings, and then stopped moving, and then welcomed death.

    Suddenly, its wings trembled.

A hand with distinct knuckles picked up the brooch from the box, and a pale white finger gently pressed open the pinhead of the brooch.

Amoris lifted the side of his coat, held the brooch in front of his clothes, found a suitable position, and with a flash of cold light, the needle pierced through the clothes, and the butterfly fluttered and landed on his chest.

With Amoris’s movements and the change of perspective, the thin snake that had originally firmly bound the butterfly seemed to be teetering.

And the butterfly changed its previous decadence. The light passed through its wings, reflecting on the white dress coat, flashing, and full of vitality. Even the little snake hanging on its wings now seemed to be just an insignificant little obstacle.

Seeing this, Evan clapped his hands and chuckled, “It seems that you don’t mind.”

And Amoris just smiled indifferently, a flash of sharpness flashing in his blue eyes.

“Thank you for the gift, I thought it was just your cover.”

    “And why should I mind?”

    Amoris asked.

“You just said, the name doesn’t matter.”

The name was just a code, whether Manni or number 683, Amoris wouldn’t mind.

As for the past as a slave, Amoris wouldn’t mind even more.

Because he had already conquered the past.

Even the smallest ant has the power to shake a dam.

    What’s more, a butterfly?

Besides, he never said he was the butterfly.

Amoris turned around, and his soft blond hair swung out a beautiful arc in the air.

He pushed open the door, intending to return to the banquet.

And Evan was still standing behind him.

He stared at the young sub-male’s back for a long time, his eyes filled with unspeakable complexity, and the smile on his face disappeared from his blue eyes, which were exactly the same as Amoris’s.

Outside the door, a row of servants stood quietly with their heads lowered, not daring to make a sound, just waiting for Evan’s order.

After a long time, a soft laugh came from the room.

Recalling the scene from the projection device, Amoris easily located Arnold and the others based on his memory.

Custer and his female father, Kurt, were also over there, and Amoris walked quickly towards them.

As he walked through the crowd, suddenly, a sudden external force bumped into him.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, are you okay?”

The voice of apology came first.

Amoris raised his head and found a person dressed as a waiter.

The other person was holding a tray with some empty wine glasses on it, which prevented Amoris’s clothes from being damaged.

Because the other person was bending over to apologize, Amoris didn’t see his face.

“It’s okay.” Amoris didn’t pay much attention and left indifferently.

    He walked to Arnold’s side.

Not long after, the banquet ended.

Amoris and Arnold didn’t immediately take the hovercar home because Amoris suddenly suggested that he wanted to go shopping in the mall next door.

    Arnold naturally agreed.

“Just now, what did Duke Evan say to you?”

In the quiet air, Arnold’s voice suddenly came, and there seemed to be some hesitation in his usually cold voice.

Arnold turned his head, and the evening breeze lifted the hair of the two, and from Arnold’s perspective, he could clearly see Amoris’s soft hair and the intertwined hair of the two.

At the same time, another object fell into his eyes.

    It was a butterfly brooch.

Due to the light, he didn’t see the snake wrapped around the butterfly wings, but he saw the light reflected by the metal products under the light, flashing.

    Arnold only felt particularly dazzling.

At this time, Amoris’s voice came again.

“He didn’t say anything. Arnold, I want to drink the milkshake over there, can you help me buy it?”

Arnold was half a beat slow, and then nodded woodenly and turned to leave.

Amoris looked at Arnold’s back, and after seeing him walk away, he took out a note from his pocket.

“Ten o’clock, the intersection of the business street.”

It was left by the waiter who bumped into him.

Amoris folded the note and cast a cold look around.

    “Come out.”
