    The Mermaid Comes Ashore

Song Yiqiu treasured anything the merfolk gave him, and this pearl was no exception. The pearl was ultimately placed in Song Yiqiu’s treasure chest.

When their boat set sail again, Kriss was like someone seeing a new continent. She carried a bucket onto the deck, soaked her tail in it, and had an excited look on her face, just like when she first got on the boat.

After about three days, Kriss’s wound healed, and Song Yiqiu no longer gave her food. She could only rely on catching food in the sea herself.

Merfolk entering the sea are like fish in water, and it is much more convenient for them to move. In a moment, fish were constantly thrown onto the deck.

Only when Song Yiqiu told her not to throw any more fish onto the boat did Kriss stop. Returning to the boat, she looked at the pile of fish that had become a small mountain with satisfaction and smiled innocently, “Thank you for saving me. These are my repayment to you. If it’s not enough to eat, I’ll go down and catch more for you.”

Song Yiqiu’s eyelid twitched. He did not accept Kriss’s way of showing gratitude. “No need. Clean up all this stuff on the deck.”

Kriss looked confused, not understanding why the human in front of her didn’t accept the gift she gave him. Did he not like it?

Right, she remembered, humans liked those shiny stones, but she didn’t have any shiny stones now. She had already given all those stones to Yan Ye.

Song Yiqiu left the deck, leaving Kriss staring blankly at the pile of fish.

Yan Ye understood Kriss’s good intentions from the conversation between the two of them. Seeing her in a daze, he kindly went over to comfort her for a few words, “She doesn’t dislike the food you gave her, it’s just too much. If all this is left here, not only will it smell, but it will also make the deck dirty.”

“So that’s how it is. Then I’ll catch less next time.” Kriss smiled again and put the fish on the deck back into the sea.

Yan Ye returned inside the boat and suddenly heard a snarky voice, “You’re quite good at comforting people.”

Song Yiqiu lifted his eyes and scanned him lightly, wanting to say something more, but as soon as his lips parted, a warm pair of lips pressed against his, blocking back everything he wanted to say.

After a while, his lips were crimson, his expression unnatural, and his eyes were sharp yet contained a hint of indulgence.

Yan Ye raised his hand and patted the top of his head, responding to his previous words, “In the future, I’ll only comfort you, okay?”

Song Yiqiu was silent for a minute, then looked at the mermaid for another minute. Seeing his own reflection in those deep eyes, he opened his mouth and weakly agreed.

Yan Ye smiled slightly, pressed his thumb on his lips, and slowly wrapped his arms around him. “When we reach the South Sea, Kriss will leave.”

The day before the ship entered the South Sea, Song Yiqiu’s cockpit system sounded an alarm. A storm was coming, and they had to prepare before the typhoon arrived.

Since Song Yiqiu was not facing a storm at sea for the first time, he remained relatively calm, using all the skills he had learned previously, ready to welcome the baptism of the storm at any time.

The sky instantly darkened, and a huge wave crashed onto the deck, causing the ship to shake violently. Song Yiqiu was caught off guard, the book in his hand fell to the ground, and just as his center of gravity was unstable and he was about to fall backward, a pair of large hands supported his shoulders.

As soon as Yan Ye said the word ‘careful,’ he met a calm pair of eyes. With his help, Song Yiqiu stood firm again, shook his head, and said, “I’m fine.”

It was just a storm, they would all be fine, right?

However, the center of this storm was not on the border of the South Sea, but in the Gadria Sea, where the eye of the typhoon was.

A few hours earlier, Cliff had noticed that the weather was not right. The direction of the wind and the humidity of the air had changed. He was startled and wanted to turn back, but was threatened by Tan Jing with a gun.

Wild winds raged on the sea, and the storm brought huge waves. They worked together, trying to destroy the ship that had trespassed into their domain.

The ship rocked, and things in the cabin were falling everywhere. Cliff grabbed whatever he could, his eyes full of frustration, “You’re going to kill me, oh God, God bless.”

Duke fell to the ground, gripping a fan in his hands, and shouted anxiously, “What should we do now? Think of something!”

If they continued to let the huge waves pound the ship, it would not be able to hold on. The ship was already showing signs of capsizing.

Tony looked disheveled, his face covered in seawater and rain. Their cabin was already flooding. “Quick, think of something, if this continues, everyone will die here.”

Cliff thought of the US dollars he hadn’t spent yet, and cursed at these two people in his heart. If it weren’t for them, he would be at home with his precious daughter, how would he be suffering this pain?

Cliff moved cautiously, he was going to get survival equipment for the sea.

Duke and Tony were relatively smart and knew that Cliff had more experience at sea than them. Seeing him about to leave, they followed him.

By the time Cliff found the rubber raft, seawater had poured into the entire cabin. Cliff quickly lowered the rubber raft and jumped down without hesitation. Immediately after, Duke and Tony also jumped down.

However, jumping into the rubber raft did not mean they were safe. A huge wave overturned the entire rubber raft, and all four of them sank to the bottom of the sea.

On Silver Sand Island, last night’s typhoon brought a lot of trouble to the island’s people, such as the sudden sand piles at the entrance, as well as some small puddles and some unknown trees and garbage.

These were all left behind after the typhoon.

The fishermen on the island began to clean up the garbage in front of their doors. After cleaning, they took their fishing gear and hurried to the beach, wanting to see if nature had left them any gifts after passing by this island.

People walked towards the sea in twos and threes, chatting and laughing, discussing last night’s typhoon. For them, if the typhoon didn’t cause them any harm, then it was something to be happy about.

Only one person was different. He wore a straw hat, bowed his head, and walked alone, out of place with the groups of people.

Someone noticed him, and the sound of laughter immediately quieted down a lot. Vaguely, only a harsh voice could be heard, “Seeing him early in the morning is really unlucky. Why didn’t the typhoon take him away last night? He’s still here scaring people.”

“Sister, what you’re saying is too much.” An older woman who couldn’t listen anymore spoke up and criticized.

The cursing woman immediately laughed and said, “Oh dear, I just got angry thinking about how my brat was drowned by him last time!”

Her words immediately resonated with several women nearby.

Which family didn’t have a child? Everyone was like the woman who spoke, afraid that the strange person would bully the children again and push them into the sea.

“Alright, didn’t I tell you last time? Your child was playing near the rocks during high tide, and he was the one who saved your son’s life.”

“Hmph, who knows if it’s true or false? Anyway, I just think he’s not a good person at first glance.”
