    Chapter 78: Merman Comes Ashore

Tan Fei took off his gloves, his tone full of emotion, “Indeed, they are low-level creatures with no intelligence. It seems he only recognizes Professor Song?”

When Song Qiuyi heard the words ‘low-level’ from his mouth, he really wanted to use a surgical needle to sew up that mouth that couldn’t speak properly.

Perhaps that mouth should belong to someone who needs it.

Tan Fei didn’t get his reply, and said with a fake smile, “It seems the important task of extracting merman blood will still have to be done by you, Professor Song.”

He didn’t believe this merman would again be unable to bring himself to use his tail on Song Qiuyi.

Song Qiuyi glanced at him. “I will extract his blood, but not now.”

“Then when? Professor Song, although the higher-ups haven’t specifically asked us when to research something, there has been no progress at all. It’s only a matter of time before the higher-ups send more people.”

Song Qiuyi’s fingers, which were changing gloves, slowed for half a beat, his voice still unmoved. “So what? If they come, can they make progress?” After the rhetorical question, his voice carried a hint of sarcasm. “I don’t think they can, and they’ll get drained by it. The lucky ones will go back and hurt for ten days to half a month, and the unlucky ones…” He didn’t finish his sentence, his contemptuous gaze said it all.

Tan Fei was annoyed by his attitude. As he looked up, a thought appeared in his mind. He snorted coldly, left the laboratory, and took the elevator to a higher floor.

As soon as Tan Fei left, Yan Ye stopped pretending to be mute. “When do you plan to extract my blood?”

Song Qiuyi turned his back to him. After disinfecting his hands, he put on his gloves again before walking over. He lowered his eyes and pressed the water draining button, answering Yan Ye’s question, “Now is not the time.”

After the water in the tank was drained, Song Qiuyi walked in, holding a container in his hand. Yan Ye raised an eyebrow slightly, his gaze confused.

“I need your saliva for an experiment.” Jiaoren saliva has healing properties, this was something Yan Ye had told him, and Song Qiuyi still remembered it.

Yan Ye’s forehead twitched. Seeing the person asking so matter-of-factly, he crossed his arms. “Okay, but what do you plan to use to collect it?”

Song Qiuyi took out a cotton swab. Yan Ye shook his head. “If you want my saliva, why not come and get it yourself? Why borrow something else?”

“You don’t need to borrow anything else to get it?” Song Qiuyi asked, puzzled.

Yan Ye nodded, his sharp fingertip lightly touched Song Qiuyi’s lips. In Song Qiuyi’s shock, he lowered his head, held his lips, pried open his lip seam, and slowly probed inside. The warm touch instantly jolted Song Qiuyi back to his senses.

The Song Qiuyi who had come back to his senses didn’t immediately push Yan Ye away, but frantically ingested his saliva. While he was frantic, a long, slender hand somehow found its way into his white coat pocket. With just one grasp, it could hold this person’s waist in its palm.

Song Qiuyi forgot about the Jiaoren’s aggression. When he came back to his senses, his lips were a vibrant red, so beautiful it made one want to go wild with bestial desire and devour him!

Fake gentleman Yan Ye, when Song Qiuyi was about to leave after taking his saliva, tempted him, “Actually, besides saliva, another type of fluid from a Jiaoren also has different effects.”

Song Qiuyi stopped in his tracks and turned around to ask, “What kind of fluid?”

Yan Ye saw him asking seriously, not pretending to be ignorant, which actually amused him. He opened his lips and silently spoke two words.

Song Qiuyi’s hand trembled, and the saliva he had just collected fell to the ground, his eyes becoming curious.

No matter which part of the Jiaoren’s body it was, he was extremely interested.

After Song Qiuyi left the water tank, he refilled the tank for Yan Ye. Then he walked to the experimental bench and began to examine Yan Ye’s saliva using instruments.

Yan Ye watched him quietly, without making a sound to disturb him, and without asking about the research process.

A few hours later, Song Qiuyi reported the healing properties of Jiaoren saliva to the higher-ups. He presented this as the first step of progress, just as Tan Fei had said, if the merman research showed no progress, the higher-ups might really send other people.

It wasn’t that Song Qiuyi hadn’t considered this, but he hated researching with Tan Fei, which was why he hadn’t said what he planned to use as the first step of progress at the time.

Tan Fei was still communicating with the higher-ups, trying to get a new drug recently developed by another laboratory, when he received a message in the group about Song Qiuyi reporting progress. This angered him so much he almost smashed the table.

The leader also saw the message and sarcastically said to the ashen-faced Tan Fei, “It was also my mistake to choose the wrong person. I should have chosen Professor Song.”

Tan Fei was silent, but roaring inside.

Song Qiuyi, it’s Song Qiuyi again… Why is it always him!

A sigh came from above him. “I hope you won’t disappoint me again, Professor Tan!”

As soon as the words fell, a tube of black medicine was placed on the table.

Tan Fei’s expression changed to delight. “I guarantee I won’t disappoint you.”

The black medicine was a drug researched by the institute’s laboratory ten years ago, used to change human physique, but the efficacy was too strong, equivalent to poison for humans. Once a person took it, there was no chance of waking up, so it eventually became a failed product.

Tan Fei thought of using it because while it was poison for humans, it was an extremely strong sedative when used on animals!

They had experimented with an adult elephant. Just half a tube had made the elephant comatose for three days and three nights.

And Tan Fei had more than one purpose for getting this medicine. He wanted to take this opportunity to get rid of Song Qiuyi as well.

Tan Fei hid the medicine and entered Laboratory 52, launching into a barrage of cold sarcasm towards Song Qiuyi.

Song Qiuyi paid him no mind and treated his words as wind passing by his ears. After tidying up everything on the experimental bench, he looked at Tan Fei, who still showed no intention of leaving, and spoke to drive him away, “That’s enough for today. You can leave!”

“Can’t I stay a little longer and observe this merman?” Tan Fei retorted.

Song Qiuyi replied without lifting his head, “You can.”

At the same time, Song Qiuyi also stopped leaving. He took out a book from somewhere and began to read it.

His knowledge of merfolk was boundless. Ever since he knew merfolk were Jiaoren, the books he bought later all contained the characters “Jiaoren”.

He was currently flipping through the Jiaoren story he hadn’t finished last night. He had found it on a very old website, and the records of Jiaoren on it were all from legends during ancient kingdom periods.

Tan Fei didn’t dare to release the black medicine in front of Song Qiuyi. If he did, before the medicine was released, he might be kicked out of the laboratory by Song Qiuyi.

He knew how crazy the other person was about merfolk, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been chosen as a student by Old man Yang.

Tan Fei pretended not to care and said, “Never mind, I’ll just come back tomorrow.”

Song Qiuyi closed the book, pointed a finger in a direction, “The door is there.”

Tan Fei walked over and pressed the button to open the door. As the door opened, Song Qiuyi closed the book and walked towards the door, leaving the laboratory with Tan Fei.
