Chapter 38: Good Night, Sweet Dreams.

Chapter 38: Good Night, Sweet Dreams.

To prepare for exams, Ye Tingtong hadn’t returned to Taizi Bay for three weeks.

With an hour left before the actual exam, Ye Tingtong couldn’t focus on the review materials anymore. He opened a phone app, intending to see what Xue Gao was doing.

Afraid he’d miss the cat too much, Shen Jun had placed a camera in Xue Gao’s activity area in the living room. Even if Xue Gao wasn’t there, the sound from the camera would make him come running.

Sometimes, when the camera’s angle was adjusted, the aurally sensitive Xue Gao would notice, come closer, and the entire screen would be filled with his adorable, pink, and moist nose.

Today, when he turned the camera, Xue Gao arrived quickly as usual. The difference was that Xue Gao was actually wearing a small outfit with a large bow, colored a flamboyant red, which didn’t quite match Xue Gao’s sweet face.

Since he wasn’t home, the only one who could dress Xue Gao was Shen Jun. However, looking at the slightly tacky large bow on Xue Gao’s back, he couldn’t imagine this being Shen Jun’s style.

At that moment, Shen Jun’s coat was still draped over the living room sofa.

It was Saturday, and Shen Jun was indeed likely to be at home.

But before, when he played with the camera, Shen Jun was either working overtime or staying in his study without coming out.

He habitually controlled the camera, wanting to look around for a moment. Just as he turned it slightly, a pair of long legs suddenly appeared in front of the view. “Xue Gao is on the left.”

After saying that, Shen Jun reached out and placed the little camera robot in front of Xue Gao.

Because it was too close, the view was just Xue Gao’s fur, a white, fluffy patch.

Ye Tingtong was too embarrassed to say he was controlling the robot to look at him, so he had to bite the bullet and stare at Xue Gao with wide eyes. Shen Jun called a stop to it, “The robot is almost out of battery, I’ll charge it later, you might not be able to connect.”

Ye Tingtong gave a muffled ‘oh,’ wanting to secretly control the robot to look back at Shen Jun, but Shen Jun anticipated his intentions and covered the camera with his hand, “You should get ready to go to the exam.”

Plan foiled, Ye Tingtong didn’t give up, “I can’t see Xue Gao anymore.”

“He ran away.” Shen Jun said, looking at the cat circling the small robot, “Don’t worry about him, I’ll pick you up at school tonight after the exam.”

Ye Tingtong’s mood instantly turned from cloudy to sunny, happily agreeing. He even planned out the best escape route after the exam in his mind, forgetting to remind Shen Jun to remove the hand blocking the camera.

After the exam, Ye Tingtong exited the school gates and immediately saw the car parked by the road.

He jogged over, opened the passenger door and got in. “Where are we going for dinner?”

Shen Jun turned, helping him fasten the seatbelt, “We’re eating at home.”

Ye Tingtong was puzzled, “Did the auntie make dinner beforehand? What are we having that’s so delicious?”

Shen Jun started the car, “You’ll know when we get back.”

This made Ye Tingtong sense something was amiss. He tilted his head, looking serious, “Shen Jun, are you hiding something from me?”

Shen Jun’s hand on the steering wheel tightened, but he didn’t say anything.

Ye Tingtong looked at him intently for a few moments, concluding: “Did you secretly drink the soup the auntie made for me?”

He was already very familiar with the auntie. She thought he was too thin, so she was always trying different methods to make nutritious soup for him, saying it was some kind of imported ingredient, and that the soup she poured for him was the most concentrated bowl. Once, Shen Jun was present and glanced at the auntie when he heard this.

The auntie immediately dared not speak further.

Shen Jun was quite jealous about his matters, even though he usually didn’t show it, he still sensed Shen Jun’s momentary displeasure towards the auntie.

“It’s okay!” Ye Tingtong said generously, “If you drank it, you drank it, you work overtime every day, you also need to nourish your body.”

    Shen Jun: “…”

The two quickly returned to their residence at Taizi Bay. Ye Tingtong walked quickly; after all, it had been almost a month since he was last there, Xue Gao must miss him.

Fingerprint unlocked, the door clicked open, Ye Tingtong pushed open the door, and just as he stepped in, suddenly, with a loud bang, colorful ribbons exploded in the air.

Yu Mo and Yu Huanhuan stood on either side of the door, holding party poppers, their smiles radiant: “Happy Birthday!”

The ribbons fluttered down, landing all over Ye Tingtong. He blinked, and after a few seconds, he realized that today was his twentieth birthday.

He hadn’t celebrated his birthday since childhood. When he was young he didn’t have the means, and after growing up no one cared. He didn’t want to celebrate alone so he acted like he didn’t have a birthday.

Shen Jun removed the ribbons from his head, smiling, “Happy birthday.”

Ye Tingtong looked at the people in front of him, rubbing his eyes, his tone a little choked up, “Thank you, guys.”

He hadn’t expected anyone to remember the birthday he had forgotten, much less to come specifically to celebrate it for him.

Yu Huanhuan looked at his reddened eye rims and pinched his cheek, “Don’t cry, I’ll show you something good.”

She led Ye Tingtong to a corner of the living room, “Isn’t this the snack cabinet you treasure? It used to take up so much space and wasn’t well-organized. I’ve upgraded it for you. Puffed food, nuts, preserved fruits, they’re all categorized. It’ll be much more convenient later on.”

Yu Huanhuan hadn’t bought an expensive snack cabinet, but one that was most in line with Ye Tingtong’s habits, the most practical kind.

Ye Tingtong looked at the fully-packed snack cabinet, feeling both touched and overwhelmed. He gave Yu Huanhuan a hug, “Huanhuan jie, thank you.”

Yu Huanhuan had always been very kind to him.

“How many times have I said, don’t call me jie.” Yu Huanhuan grumbled, but still allowed herself to be hugged, patting his back, “Sweetie, things will get better, every year for your birthday, even if Shen Jun doesn’t say anything, I’ll help you celebrate.”

She’d also suggested celebrating Ye Tingtong’s birthday, but Ye Tingtong didn’t think it was necessary and that it was a waste of money.

Although Ye Tingtong used to go to all sorts of gatherings and crowds, he didn’t like that kind of superficial excitement. When Shen Jun came to discuss this matter with her, she directly rejected Shen Jun’s proposal to hold a large banquet, instead choosing the location to be Ye Tingtong’s most comfortable place, the Taizi Bay home.

It was just the few of them, but it was enough.

Ye Tingtong’s reaction also proved this.

“Tsk, Little Tongzai, am I invisible to you?” Yu Mo covered his chest, exaggerating his tone, “You could at least look up at me?”

Yu Huanhuan pointed to the sky, laughing, “Look at what Master Yu has been working on for a whole day.”

Ye Tingtong looked up, and after seeing it clearly, he was shocked and stunned.

The house was filled with balloons, mostly pink, with shiny fillers inside, and each one was blown up exceptionally full, as if they might explode at any moment.

A string of lights hung at the entrance, flashing and spelling out “happy birthday”.

Yu Mo looked at Ye Tingtong, stunned speechless, he coughed, covering his mouth with restraint, “I was just dragged in to do the hard work, blowing up balloons for a whole day, nothing to mention.”

As he said this, he seemed to think of something, and picked up Xue Gao from the ground, “And this outfit, festive, right? I prepared twenty sets for this little thing, you guys remember to change them out, they could go to a fashion show!”

Ye Tingtong looked at the indescribable large red bow on Xue Gao, “So, you chose it.”

He figured, Shen Jun wasn’t this kind of taste.

“Alright, this outfit is terrible.” Yu Huanhuan, whose aesthetic was clearly normal, rescued Xue Gao from Yu Mo, “Also, it’s all because of this outfit, we almost gave it away during the day.”

Ye Tingtong thought of something, turning his head, his tone a little stiff, “You’re not talking about when I was watching the camera, are you?”

Yu Mo couldn’t stop laughing, “Don’t worry, we didn’t see you controlling the little robot, searching for Shen Jun all over the house.”

Ye Tingtong’s face flushed instantly, he could even imagine the two of them laughing at him behind the little robot.

“Alright, it’s time to cut the cake.” Shen Jun rescued the embarrassed Ye Tingtong, “I’ll go to the kitchen and get the cake.”

The cake was placed on the living room table. Ye Tingtong looked at the pattern on the cake, somewhat amazed: “Was this custom-made?”

On the cake was a small figure, wearing a white down jacket, a scarf around his neck. Although only half his face was exposed, you could tell it was him. He was also holding a pet leash, and Xue Gao was standing at his feet.

Xue Gao was a very lively character, and sometimes he would walk him around the neighborhood while holding the leash.

Ye Tingtong couldn’t help but crouch down to look carefully all around, marveling again, “It really looks like him.”

Shen Jun: “It’s good that you like it.”

Ye Tingtong tilted his head, his eyes sparkling, “Of course I like it!”

Yu Mo poked Shen Jun’s arm, “Hey, what are you pretending for? I’m taking credit for blowing up the balloons, are you still hiding it?”

Don’t think he didn’t notice the subtle micro-expression of relief on this person’s face.

    Ye Tingtong “ah’d”: “Hiding what?”

“This!” Yu Mo gestured towards the cake, “This cake was made by him, and the little person on top was the only successful product he made after asking countless masters for advice.”

There were still a bunch of defective products in the kitchen that hadn’t been cleaned up yet!

Ye Tingtong’s eyes widened in surprise, “Really? Shen Jun, you’re so amazing!”

“You have the same talent for making cakes as me!”

This made everyone laugh. Yu Mo added fuel to the fire, “Why didn’t I see you praise me when I blew up the balloons? Are you playing favorites?”

Ye Tingtong rarely didn’t argue back, “You’re amazing too! Huanhuan jie is awesome too!”

His impartial praise satisfied everyone present.

When blowing out the candles and making a wish, Ye Tingtong closed his eyes and silently murmured in his heart: “I wish Yu Huanhuan a lot of money, I wish Yu Mo happiness every day, I wish Shen Jun’s business to go smoothly.”

“Finally, I hope I can always be this happy.”

After making his wish, Ye Tingtong puffed out his cheeks and blew out the candles in one breath.

Ye Tingtong cut the cake and shared it with them, secretly giving Shen Jun the biggest piece.

The cake wasn’t big, and they finished it while chatting.

Yu Huanhuan sighed, “If I went out and said I ate a cake made by CEO Shen himself, would anyone believe me?”

“No.” Yu Mo scraped the cream from his plate, looking particularly appreciative, “Not to mention you, no one would believe me if I said it.”

After eating and drinking their fill, Yu Mo took out a bottle of red wine and handed it to Ye Tingtong, “This is my cherished collection, it’s for you.”

Yu Huanhuan directly sent him a five-figure red envelope.

After the gifts were given, the two left. Ye Tingtong couldn’t bear to eat the little sugar figurine on the cake, carefully packing it away in the refrigerator.

Closing the fridge, he turned around and saw Xue Gao nibbling on the ribbons on the ground. He crouched down and tried to snatch them, but Xue Gao ran away quickly with the ribbon in its mouth.

Shen Jun came out of the kitchen with noodles, and saw a big one and a small one running around the house.

“You can’t eat that!” Ye Tingtong was extremely anxious, trying to reason with the cat, “Your stomach is already fragile, you’ll get diarrhea from chewing it!”

Just as Xue Gao was about to get away again, a slender hand descended from the sky, pinching its nape and easily pulling the ribbon from Xue Gao’s mouth, “The living room is too messy, I’ll lock him in your bedroom for a while.”

“You must not be full yet, right? There are noodles on the table.”

Today was an exam, the energy consumption was too high, that little bit of cake wasn’t enough for Ye Tingtong to fill his stomach, so he obediently sat down in a chair to eat.

After eating a few bites, he noticed the noodles were very thin and long. He belatedly realized that Shen Jun had made him longevity noodles.

After settling the cat, Shen Jun began cleaning up the living room.

Ye Tingtong glanced at Shen Jun, who was bending over sweeping up the ribbons.

As a natural leader, doing this was supposed to feel very out of place, but when it actually happened, Ye Tingtong felt it was very natural.

Probably because Shen Jun had never acted high and mighty in front of him. He gave him the feeling of a smart and reliable mature man.

The sound of the broom and Ye Tingtong’s slurping of noodles blended together, making people feel comfortable and peaceful.

Ye Tingtong even drank all the soup, and proactively went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.

Shen Jun said, “I’ll do it.”

“No need.” Ye Tingtong said without looking back, “There’s no logic to cooking and also washing the dishes.”

When he got to the kitchen, he saw several cake bases piled in a corner of the stove, as well as some slightly messy cream. He suddenly realized why Shen Jun didn’t let him wash the dishes.

Shen Jun stood at the kitchen door, his expression slightly stalled: “I just did a few more tries.”

Ye Tingtong patted his shoulder forgivingly, “I understand.”

Not everyone can have the same talent as him, succeeding with the cake on the first try and getting a score of eight!

The little pride on Ye Tingtong’s face was too obvious. Shen Jun suppressed the curve of his lips, “Yeah, you can teach me next time.”

Ye Tingtong gave him an ok sign.

After eating and drinking his fill, Ye Tingtong went to wash up. After washing up, he subconsciously wanted to go to the study to find Shen Jun. When he passed the living room, he inadvertently saw the bottle of red wine on the living room table.

Because Yu Mo had given it to him, Shen Jun didn’t put it in the wine cabinet. He must have meant to let him take care of it himself.

Ye Tingtong licked his lips and quietly took the red wine back to his bedroom.

On the other side, Shen Jun took out a document from the study and, after confirming there were no flaws, sent a message to Ye Tingtong.

[Are you free? Come to the study.]

After sending the message, he waited ten minutes. Ye Tingtong still didn’t reply. Just as he was about to go out and see, he heard a rustling, scratching sound from the door.

At first he thought it was Xue Gao, but after listening for a while, he realized something was off. Xue Gao’s scratching on the door was very rhythmic, not like now, which was sometimes heavy and sometimes light.

Shen Jun went to the door and just as he opened it, a person softly fell into his arms.

Ye Tingtong looked up, murmuring, “Didn’t you ask me to come? Why did you open it so slowly?”

Shen Jun confirmed the study door wasn’t locked. He looked at Ye Tingtong’s red cheeks, getting closer. As expected, he smelled the scent of alcohol.

Ye Tingtong looked at the enlarged handsome face in front of him, swallowing, and before Shen Jun could react, he kissed his cheek, making an exaggerated “smooch” sound.

The unannounced initiative made Shen Jun stunned, “Did you drink the wine Yu Mo gave you?”

That wine had a good taste, but the alcohol content was not low.

Ye Tingtong leaned on Shen Jun’s neck for support, nodding obediently.

Shen Jun was afraid that he would get tired from standing, so he walked to the desk in the study, ready to help him sit on the chair, but Ye Tingtong pressed his shoulders, so he had to sit down following the force, while Ye Tingtong sat on his lap.

The two had never tried such a posture before.

Ye Tingtong buried his face in his neck. Shen Jun lowered his eyes, and could see Ye Tingtong’s red ears.

He raised his hand, touching his hot earlobe, “You’re shy but still sat on my lap?”

Ye Tingtong, in his normal state, would absolutely not dare do this.

Ye Tingtong tried to argue, “The chair is hard.”

The implication was that he was only sitting on Shen Jun’s lap because it was comfortable, there were absolutely no other thoughts.

Shen Jun chuckled. Just as he was about to speak, Ye Tingtong raised his hand and covered his mouth.

Ye Tingtong: “It’s my birthday today, I’m the biggest, you’re not allowed to ask.”

His argument wasn’t logical, but his stance was still strong.

Shen Jun listened to him, and was quiet for a while, but Ye Tingtong became unhappy again, putting down his hand, frowning: “Talk.”

Shen Jun cooperated and asked: “How much did you drink?”

Ye Tingtong held up a finger to him, his expression mysterious.

Shen Jun guessed: “A little bit?”

    Ye Tingtong shook his head.

    “A bottle?”

Ye Tingtong seemed to think he was so stupid. He said: “Half! I left half for you to drink.”

If he hadn’t been interrupted by Shen Jun’s message, he probably really could have finished it. This wine was indeed a good wine, it tasted quite good.

Shen Jun really couldn’t guess this answer. However, perhaps the effects of the alcohol were coming on slowly, Ye Tingtong’s eyes were still clear. He spread out the documents on the desk, “I asked you to come to the study to sign, take a look at this document.”

This was the birthday gift he had prepared for Ye Tingtong.

The transfer of some fixed assets, including houses and cars. Even if Ye Tingtong just collected rent, he would be able to live very well.

In addition, this document nullified the prenuptial agreement before their marriage certificate. After signing, even if they divorced, Ye Tingtong would be able to obtain the property he was entitled to by law.

Ye Tingtong looked at the densely packed words, he could understand each one, but when combined, he had trouble understanding it.

He frowned, and directly picked up the pen and signed at the bottom right corner.

Shen Jun had already signed above.

Seeing that he signed so quickly in less than a minute, Shen Jun couldn’t help but chuckle, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll sell you?”

Hearing this, Ye Tingtong raised his head, after being shocked, he felt a little wronged, “Why would you sell me? I’m not worth anything.”

After saying that, he was ready to pick up the pen and black out his signature, but Shen Jun’s hand was faster, closing the documents and pushing them away.

Ye Tingtong’s face drooped, “Shen Jun, you’ve turned bad.”

After saying that, he pitifully shook Shen Jun’s hem, “Don’t sell me, I still have half a bottle of wine left, it’s worth more than selling me.”

After speaking, he pleasedly kissed Shen Jun’s chin and tip of the nose. After kissing, his face became even more red, his eyes darting around, “Why do you smell the same as me? Smells nice.”

After saying this, he poked Shen Jun’s constantly moving Adam’s apple with his finger.

His relaxed and playful expression was obviously forgetting the danger that he might be sold.

Shen Jun’s eyes were deep, he grabbed Ye Tingtong’s restless hand, restrained the back of his head, lowered his head and kissed him.

In this situation, there was no reason to endure it.

Ye Tingtong had already learned how to exchange air, but Shen Jun’s kiss was too forceful, still making him unable to breathe. His hand against Shen Jun’s chest weakly refused, and after a while, Shen Jun let him go.

Now, Ye Tingtong’s lips were redder than his face.

Shen Jun didn’t give him too much space to catch his breath, and soon, turning Ye Tingtong’s face, kissed him again.

The sideways sitting position unknowingly turned into a fiery face-to-face. Ye Tingtong looked up, his eyes somewhat scattered from the alcohol and lack of oxygen, but still blankly opened his lips, letting himself be bullied.

Fluids uncontrollably flowed from the corner of his lips and were kissed clean by Shen Jun little by little.

Shen Jun let go of Ye Tingtong, wanting him to take a breather, but Ye Tingtong, enjoying it, instinctively chased after him, but could only rub, occasionally mustering the courage, learning from him, to stick out his tongue and lick the corner of Shen Jun’s lips.

The awkward response was the most alluring.

He didn’t know how long it had been, but their breathing was very unstable. Ye Tingtong moved uncomfortably.

Shen Jun cupped Ye Tingtong’s waist, wanting him to change position, but Ye Tingtong was unwilling, hugging his neck and not letting go, even biting him on the neck.

“I’m not afraid of pain, you’re not allowed to drive me away.” Ye Tingtong looked at the bulging veins on Shen Jun’s neck because of his restraint, he thought for a moment, “I can tolerate your quirks.”

He straightened his back, stretched out his hand, and holding Shen Jun’s face, his expression serious, “I don’t mind wearing strange clothes, wearing a collar, and even a tail, I can do all of it, but—”

“Can you not use a whip?”

    He hated whips.

Fortunately, Shen Jun didn’t have the quirks Ye Tingtong had imagined. The process was gentle, but it wasn’t as easy as Ye Tingtong had imagined. He remembered that he seemed to have cried, begging to go back to his room. Just as he took a few steps, he was pulled back by Shen Jun, who was restraining his ankle.

Shen Jun wasn’t as easygoing as he normally was. He would kiss away his tears, would hoarsely call his name, and would coax him to call him baby, while praising him for being well-behaved.

Ye Tingtong’s desire to escape was gradually worn away. In the end, his throat was hoarse.

Under the dual effect of physical exhaustion and alcohol, Ye Tingtong didn’t have any strength left in his body. He was encircled in someone’s arms. He hugged Shen Jun’s waist, automatically finding a position that made him most comfortable, and in a daze, said, “Can you not be so fierce next time?”

He wasn’t really going to run away.

Shen Jun brushed his sweat-soaked bangs aside, “I’ll try my best.”

Ye Tingtong, who had received a promise, was overtaken by sleepiness. However, he noticed Shen Jun taking his right hand, and a cool thing was slipped onto his ring finger.

Ye Tingtong wanted to see, but Shen Jun covered his eyes.

His vision went dark, but the hands covering his eyes were incredibly warm, just like Shen Jun.

Ye Tingtong curved his fingers, feeling the unique metallic texture above, and placed his hand on his chest.

    “Shen Jun, I like you.”

I like you very, very much.

Shen Jun kissed his forehead, “Me too.”

    I love you too.

    Good night, sweet dreams.
