Chapter 29: Do you want to sleep with me tonight…

The fireworks outside were bursting with loud bangs, but the phone call became quiet.

Perhaps because it was the New Year, Ye Tingtong didn’t want to sleep so early, nor did he want to end his conversation with Shen Jun.

“Shen Jun, does the wound on your hand need to be treated?” Ye Tingtong suddenly said this. “I’ll go find the housekeeper to get some alcohol, and go to the study to find you?”

The more Ye Tingtong spoke, the softer his voice became, almost inaudible mixed with the sound of firecrackers outside the window.

But Shen Jun still heard him clearly. He raised his hand, looked at the wound on the back of his hand that was about to scab over, his eyes flickered, but his voice was still as calm as usual: “Okay, I’ll wait for you.”

When he hung up the phone, Ye Tingtong touched his face, it was very hot.

It must be the alcohol evaporating that made his face so red.

He was just concerned normally, not because he wanted to see Shen Jun.

Giving his behavior a plausible excuse, Ye Tingtong picked up Xue Gao and placed him on the ground, and said, “I won’t close the door, you can play here, you can also leave if you want to.”

Xue Gao seemed to understand him, rubbed his head against his hand, then obediently lay down on the carpet in the room, seemingly not wanting to leave for the time being.

Leaving a small crack in the door, Ye Tingtong went out and went to the first floor to ask the housekeeper for alcohol to treat wounds.

However, as soon as he went downstairs, he saw someone he didn’t want to see in the hall.

Shen Minghuai was also there. The housekeeper was treating the wounds on his face, and Shen Minghuai was grimacing in pain, clearly not feeling well.

Under the light, Shen Minghuai tilted his head, and Ye Tingtong noticed that the corners of Shen Minghuai’s mouth were torn. It was evident that Shen Jun had not held back at all.

No wonder he was able to injure himself while hitting someone.

Ye Tingtong saw him there and lost the thought of getting alcohol. Just as he was about to leave quietly, he heard Shen Minghuai’s surprised cry from behind, “Tong Zai!”

Ye Tingtong was startled by his loud voice. Luckily, the fireworks outside hadn’t stopped, otherwise the entire Shen family would have heard Shen Minghuai’s voice.

Shen Minghuai was in no mood to apply the medicine. He ran in front of Ye Tingtong, “Are you here to find me?”

“No.” Ye Tingtong said quickly, “Shen Jun’s hand is cut. I want to ask the housekeeper for some alcohol.”

The smile on Shen Minghuai’s face faded. “Tong Zai, can’t you see the wound on my face? He was the one who hit me.”

Ye Tingtong glanced at his swollen right cheek, then quickly looked away.

Such a nice face, it was almost ruined.

    So pitiful.

Seeing him avoiding his gaze, Shen Minghuai’s voice softened, his tone a little pitiful: “Don’t you have anything to say? Before, I didn’t know that Little Uncle was such a violent person.”

“I’m worried about you living with him.”

The little pity that Ye Tingtong felt instantly disappeared. He frowned, “Didn’t you provoke him first? I don’t believe that Shen Jun would hit someone for no reason, and don’t put the label of violence on him.”

In the more than ten years that he’d lived, he’d never met anyone more gentlemanly and polite than Shen Jun.

Shen Minghuai didn’t expect Ye Tingtong to believe Shen Jun so much, and he actually retorted his words without hesitation, a bit annoyed: “I really didn’t provoke him. I just wanted him to let you go, and he suddenly got angry and hit me.”

From another perspective, Shen Minghuai was not lying.

But Ye Tingtong didn’t believe him at all. “You don’t have to tell me these things, I’m not interested in hearing them.”

It was the New Year, and he didn’t want his good mood to be ruined by Shen Minghuai.

He walked past the person in front of him and went to the housekeeper. “Housekeeper, I would like some disinfectant alcohol swabs.”

The medicine cabinet was right next to him, and the housekeeper quickly handed over the things that Ye Tingtong needed.

Ye Tingtong took them and didn’t delay any further. He turned around to go upstairs, but just as he lifted his foot, he was pulled back by Shen Minghuai grabbing his arm.

    “You’re not allowed to go!”

Shen Minghuai didn’t know what kind of enchantment Shen Jun had used on Ye Tingtong. The Ye Tingtong who used to have only him in his heart and eyes now wouldn’t even spare him a glance.

He’d been beaten like this, yet Ye Tingtong had no reaction at all, instead being so concerned about Shen Jun’s small scratch.

He was so jealous he was almost going crazy.

The hand on his arm was pulling very tightly, and Ye Tingtong was in some pain. He wanted to shake it off, but he wasn’t as strong as the other person. He was also annoyed by this endless entanglement, “Shen Minghuai, I did need to cling to you before, but that’s not a reason for you to disturb me at will.”

“I’m still talking to you properly now, firstly because we’re classmates and roommates, secondly because you helped me before, and more so because you are Shen Jun’s nephew.”

“If you continue to bully people like this, don’t blame me for really falling out with you.”

Listening to his angry tone, Shen Minghuai knew that Ye Tingtong was really angry. He could only slowly let go of his hand, his tone a little bitter, “Tong Zai, I just wanted to tell you my true feelings.”

Ye Tingtong pursed his lips and turned to leave.

Right now, these so-called feelings were just a burden to him.

Walking to the door of the study, Ye Tingtong rubbed his face hard, adjusted his expression, and then knocked on the door before entering.

The door opened, and the clear sound of typing on a keyboard came over.

Even though he was prepared, Ye Tingtong was still a little surprised. Even during the New Year, Shen Jun was still dealing with official business.

Everyone thought that Shen Jun’s ability and background were innate, that he was a child of fate, but under everyone’s casual teasing, Shen Jun’s hard work was silently denied.

Everything Shen Jun had now was what he deserved.

The study also had a sofa. The two of them sat down together, and Ye Tingtong treated the wound on Shen Jun’s hand.

This task was just an excuse to see Shen Jun, and it was done in no time. Ye Tingtong threw the used cotton swabs into the trash can.

Shen Jun looked at the person in front of him, who was clearly in low spirits and constantly pursing his lips, and said, “Did the housekeeper make things difficult for you?”

The time that Ye Tingtong took to get the cotton swabs was a bit off.

Ye Tingtong shook his head, “No.”

The old housekeeper was a very good person, diligent and responsible. When he was arguing with Shen Minghuai, his expression even showed a little concern for him.

“I ran into Shen Minghuai.” Ye Tingtong’s tone was muffled, “He not only bad-mouthed you, but also said some inexplicable things to me.”

He knew that Shen Minghuai had been spoiled and did things according to his own ideas, but what he said just now was too much.

There were so many people in the Shen residence today, and the housekeeper was standing nearby, yet Shen Minghuai was saying those things to him.

He was Shen Jun’s legal partner now, and if word got out, it would be embarrassing for all three of them.

Even though Ye Tingtong didn’t say it clearly, Shen Jun quickly guessed what was going on and also understood Ye Tingtong’s worries. “Don’t mind him, and no one dares to spread it.”

Everyone here was a member of the Shen family. He was the current head of the Shen family. Internal strife was one thing, but if it went outside, not only would they have to get through him, but it would also damage the overall interests of the Shen family.

Ye Tingtong didn’t know that and must be worried that it would damage his reputation.

Sure enough, Ye Tingtong breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, “That’s good then.”

The fireworks outside continued, reflected through the large French windows of the study, particularly dazzling and brilliant, as if they could occasionally form patterns.

Ye Tingtong was drawn by the sight and walked to the window, tilting his head to ask Shen Jun, “How long will the fireworks last?”

Shen Jun glanced at his watch, “A total of half an hour, there are ten minutes left until they end.”

This was a tradition that had been passed down. The elders of the Shen family felt that this would bring prosperity to the business in the coming year, but Shen Jun didn’t think it was necessary, that besides the noise, it didn’t bring any real benefits.

He had suggested shortening the time more than once.

But now, looking at the person by the window watching the fireworks, and the surprise and curiosity on his face, he felt that half an hour was bearable.

Shen Jun asked, “Do you want to turn off the lights?”

    Ye Tingtong nodded.

After the lights were turned off, the study darkened, and the presence of the fireworks outside became clearer. The light fell on them through the shadows of the trees, covering them in layers of beautiful light.

Ye Tingtong secretly looked at the person next to him.

Shen Jun was wearing a black sweater. The fireworks came in intermittently, outlining the man’s figure. Because he was working, Shen Jun had rolled up his sleeves a bit, revealing his toned forearm, giving off a sharp sense of strength.

Looking up, Ye Tingtong could only see his side profile. The originally somewhat cold outline had a hint of inexplicable tenderness in the reflection of the fireworks.

He was unknowingly lost in thought…

Shen Jun was much more beautiful than the New Year’s fireworks.

Ye Tingtong didn’t know how long he had been looking until he met a pair of deep black eyes, only to realize that he had been caught staring.

He turned his head in a panic, but at this moment, the fireworks had just ended, and the outside of the window had returned to the darkness unique to night, along with the study.

Ye Tingtong could feel the gaze beside him and hear his own irregular heartbeat.

He covered his heart in a self-deceiving way, but it was useless.

Ye Tingtong didn’t know what he was nervous about, and really wanted to escape.

The darkness amplified his other senses. Ye Tingtong heard Shen Jun chuckle very softly, his voice low and pleasant, “Is it beautiful?”

Ye Tingtong’s heart beat even faster. He cursed himself for being useless, his cheeks burning hot, and tried to mislead the conversation: “The fireworks are very beautiful.”

Shen Jun didn’t expose him, and hummed in agreement, still with a smile.

The two of them stood quietly together in the dark. Ye Tingtong was waiting for the temperature on his face to drop. He didn’t suggest turning on the lights, and Shen Jun waited quietly too.

After getting used to the darkness, Ye Tingtong could barely see the furnishings in the study. He planned to use other things to divert his attention. He turned his head and unexpectedly saw a soft couch at the end of the room.

It was very narrow, and the quilt was thin, probably for taking a nap.

Shen Jun said he would sleep in the study, was he going to sleep there?

Ye Tingtong looked around, and except for the sofa, he didn’t see any other place to sleep.

He couldn’t imagine Shen Jun, with his tall stature, sleeping on this narrow bed.

Ye Tingtong couldn’t help but say, “Is there another place to sleep? This bed is so small.”

    Shen Jun paused, “No.”

There were too many people staying over today, the rooms were all arranged, and there were no extra clean rooms.

Ye Tingtong looked at the bed, then at the person beside him. He really wanted to tell himself not to be nosy, but he couldn’t bear it, “This bed is too small, you will be very uncomfortable if you sleep on it for a whole night.”

    Shen Jun: “It’s okay.”

“No, it’s not.” Ye Tingtong couldn’t bear to let Shen Jun sleep in such a cramped place for the New Year, “There are other ways.”

After he said that, he felt that the heat that had just gone down on his face was slowly climbing up again.

Shen Jun tilted his head, signaling him to continue.

Ye Tingtong bit his lip and said softly, “Um, do you want to sleep with me tonight?”
