    Chapter 90: Cheating?

Lin Sui watched the intensely fierce battle on the stage with subtle expression. It was clearly a wonderful match, but he was a little distracted.

He didn’t know if it was because the original plot was repeatedly exerting its influence lately, but Lin Sui’s mind was also following suit with the melodramatic turn. Looking at the two people fighting heatedly on the stage, he actually felt a hint of helplessness in the other streamer’s eyes towards Silver Fox.

It was the kind of helplessness one feels when watching their own child throwing a tantrum.

Lin Sui patted his face, telling himself not to overthink, and forced himself to focus on the match itself.

The match ended quickly because the two strongest players took each other down from the start, leaving only a bunch of scrubs pecking at each other, which wasn’t interesting at all.

Lin Sui watched Silver Fox throw aside his keyboard with a disgruntled expression. His silver-gray, half-long hair was casually draped over his shoulders as he crossed his arms and stared straight at his opponent. If it weren’t for the earlier statement of “he’s my enemy,” Lin Sui would have thought he was a fan of the other person.

However… it seemed even more melodramatic because of this.

Various esports novel plots flashed through Lin Sui’s mind. The more he looked at the two, the more he felt like a novel was coming to life. He was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn’t even notice Silver Fox coming up beside him.

“Hey, what are you looking at?” Silver Fox patted Lin Sui’s shoulder, a hint of confusion on his still somewhat youthful face. “The match is over.”

“Ah!” Lin Sui jumped in surprise, turning his head to see one of the parties he had been imagining suddenly appear beside him. His heart skipped a beat, and he said awkwardly, “No, I was just… just mesmerized. You were fighting so fiercely just now.”

“Oh, just seeing a nemesis makes my blood boil.” Silver Fox casually flicked his long hair, his eyes unconsciously searching the audience for something. Realizing this, he quickly retracted his gaze and awkwardly changed the subject, “There aren’t any more strong players after this. I heard there’s a live dance competition later, should we go check it out?”

Lin Sui pretended not to notice Silver Fox’s intention and nodded in agreement.

The two chatted idly as they found the stage specifically built for dancing. Lin Sui shielded his eyes from the sun and looked up, his eyes revealing amazement.

On stage was a handsome guy doing a street dance, perfectly executing a seemingly impressive floor move, using one hand to support himself as his entire body leaned upside down. The exaggerated earring on his ear was appropriately wild. Lin Sui watched with rapt attention, his heart itching with a bit of excitement.

The music with its dense drumbeats ended, and Lin Sui and Silver Fox simultaneously exhaled. Silver Fox turned his head and exclaimed, “Too cool, right? If it weren’t for…”

Lin Sui keenly understood who the “who” referred to in the pause, but he didn’t expose it, only nodding in agreement.

As they were chatting, something suddenly bumped Lin Sui’s shoulder. He turned to see the person from the morning lecture passing by, the rivets on his clothes heavily brushing against him, chafing his exposed skin until it turned red.

    “Hmph.”

The rock-style youth snorted, wiping his clothes with a disgusted expression, then walked away without looking back, a series of actions that left Lin Sui feeling inexplicable.

“Tsk, that’s all he’s good for.” Silver Fox rolled his eyes at the sight, not bothering to control his volume, and said lazily, “He can’t accept that he’s not as good as others, always pulling these little tricks. No wonder he’s not as popular as others.”

The rock-style youth, who had already walked a distance away, paused, turning around with a cold look in his eyes at Silver Fox. Silver Fox raised an eyebrow provocatively, coldly mocking, “What, did I hit a nerve? Or do you want to curse back? But I advise you to just forget it. With your pitch, don’t let people realize you’re tone-deaf the moment you open your mouth. There’s no one here to give you million-dollar autotune.”

“Say that again!” The rock-style youth was furious, the smoky makeup unable to hide his flushed face. He took a few steps forward, seemingly about to strike. Silver Fox grinned, directly rolling up his sleeves to meet him, not afraid at all.

“Don’t!” Lin Sui was still confused, not knowing how a fight suddenly started. He quickly grabbed Silver Fox.

“Little brother.” Almost at the same time, a slender hand pressed down on the rock-style youth’s shoulder. The person’s voice was gentle as the wind, but the words carried a hidden sense of pressure, “It’s not good to fight here. Everyone’s just trying to make a living, no need to ruin each other’s livelihood, right?”

The rock-style youth frowned, about to impatiently curse him to get lost, but the person had already smiled and walked towards Silver Fox, skillfully ruffling his silver-gray hair.

Lin Sui’s heart suddenly sank. He grabbed Silver Fox’s arm tightly, afraid that he would get angry and beat up even bystanders. But unexpectedly, the explosive teenager miraculously didn’t react at all, only grinding his teeth and saying with a disgusted expression, “Take your hand away. Don’t touch me after touching that person, I find it dirty.”

Compared to his earlier sleeve-rolling, ready-to-fight appearance, this could be called obedient.

Lin Sui let go of his hand, realizing that this was that “nemesis.”

He was now even more certain that the relationship between these two wasn’t as simple as enemies, it had to be something like love turned to hate.

“Okay, okay, fussy.” The youth helplessly curved his eyes, slowly taking out a wet wipe to clean each finger, actively handing it to Silver Fox, “All clean, check if you’re satisfied.”

“Tch, how old are you, I’m not your caretaker.” Silver Fox’s mouth obviously twitched upwards, but he quickly suppressed it, pretending to be impatient and swatting it away.

The two interacted so naturally, as if the rock-style youth, who was being treated like something dirty, didn’t exist at all, almost causing the youth to faint from anger, but he had to turn around and leave because there were too many people.

“Coward.” Silver Fox curled his lips.

“He didn’t say anything about you, why are you so angry?” Lin Sui said helplessly.

“I just can’t stand him, his character is terrible, he really thinks people don’t know about the crap he’s pulled.” Silver Fox explained, then looked at Lin Sui suspiciously, “Besides, isn’t it rumored that you two are in competition? How come I feel like you don’t know him?”

Lin Sui was stunned, “Competition? I’m meeting him for the first time today.”

“…” Silver Fox was speechless, “So you really didn’t know, rumors really can’t be trusted. That person’s ID is ‘Drifting Wind,’ he’s a music streamer like you, but he’s more into the rock and cool style. Tsk tsk, maybe that person is promoting himself, he loves to play that game, sucking the blood of others while acting all high and mighty, bleh.”

Silver Fox made a vomiting gesture, his disgusted expression making Lin Sui laugh. He didn’t take that person to heart, “Anyway, he hasn’t done anything substantial to harm me, so whatever.”

“Okay, but be careful, that person has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, you definitely can’t outsmart him.” Silver Fox shrugged, then switched to another topic, “I remember you got married, the photo you showed off your ring last time even made it to the trending list, why didn’t I see your partner come with you today?”

“Oh, he’s busy with some things.” Lin Sui blushed embarrassedly, realizing that his whim to show off his affection had been seen by so many people.

Even game streamers across regions knew about it.

“Don’t be shy, I’ve seen photos of your partner, that face, it’s just this.” Silver Fox gave a thumbs up, “He’s so handsome, you two look like a perfect couple standing together.”

“Thank you.” Lin Sui smiled slightly and didn’t continue, because he saw the person standing behind Silver Fox’s face darken. Although there was a smile on his face, it looked like he was planning to settle accounts later.

He glanced at Silver Fox, who was still sighing in admiration, and silently lit a candle for him.

“It’s getting late, let’s go eat first.” The gentle youth interrupted Silver Fox’s praise, smiling serenely, “I heard the organizers specifically hired Michelin chefs.”

It was almost time for dinner, and the people around them were gradually heading towards the dining area. The three walked together, but just as they reached the door, they suddenly noticed that everyone else seemed to be looking at their phones, and their expressions were strange when they saw the three of them, especially when they looked at Lin Sui, they had a hint of sympathy.

Lin Sui didn’t pay attention at first, but the more he was looked at, the more he couldn’t help but worry. He thought for a moment and also took out his phone and opened the live streaming app, and was surprised by the mentions in the private messages.

He opened one and saw that they were all under one video. Lin Sui looked at the figure in a wheelchair on the cover, his heart suddenly emptied, and he unconsciously clenched his phone, his hand aching before he let go.

Taking a deep breath to force himself to calm down, Lin Sui opened the video and quickly watched the short ten-second clip.

The content was short, but it left Lin Sui’s mind blank. His fingers were so stiff that he couldn’t move, and the phone automatically looped the video, forcing Lin Sui to watch again and again the intimate embrace between Gu Nian and Duan Miao in the video. The last scene was Duan Miao raising his head, looking as if he was kissing him.

The video ended there, but it gave people endless imagination.

In just over ten minutes, the video had already broken 100,000 likes, and the heat was still growing explosively. At first, some people praised the couple’s affection, but before long, Lin Sui’s fans discovered that one of the parties was Gu Nian, and instantly the ordinary couple video turned into evidence of cheating.

Lin Sui’s mind was a mess. His finger accidentally touched the power button, but he didn’t realize it. It was only when he saw the excessively pale face on the black screen that he came back to his senses. His hand shook, and the phone fell to the ground with a snap, the screen shattering.

Silver Fox had also seen the video. He didn’t know what to say. After all, just a second ago, he had asked where his partner was, and now he was filled with guilt for being so nosy. He looked at Lin Sui cautiously and opened his mouth, “Are you okay…”

Lin Sui barely tugged at the corners of his mouth, picked up his phone, stuffed it into his pocket, and only when he opened his mouth did he realize that he couldn’t speak. After a while, he squeezed out a few words, “Sorry, I have to go back.”

Silver Fox sighed and stepped forward to hug Lin Sui tightly, comforting him, “These marketing accounts love to take things out of context. Maybe the situation isn’t like that at all. But if that jerk really cheated, just DM me, and I’ll bring people to beat him up. Then you can beat him up yourself and vent all your anger.”

Lin Sui really wanted to say thank you, but his body didn’t have the strength to speak anymore. He turned around and almost staggered to hail a taxi.

After Lin Sui got in the car, he closed his eyes to rest, occasionally staring blankly out the window, his eyes glazed over, not knowing what he was thinking.
