Chapter 16: Retaliation

Shen Xingyang had completely collapsed at that point, possibly due to the drug, or perhaps because of his own humiliation; he was utterly drained of strength.

Song Yichen helped him wipe his body clean, dressed him, carried him to the bed, bandaged the wounds on his hand, and then left.

Back in his room, Song Yichen stood under the cold shower for a long time until the physical reactions subsided. Only then did he emerge from the bathroom, sitting quietly on the sofa for a very long time.

It wasn’t until he received a call from Gu Ze that he snapped out of it.

    “He’s alright.”

Hearing Song Yichen’s words, Gu Ze finally felt relieved. Otherwise, if something had happened to Shen Xingyang, none of them would have been able to explain it.

“How is Jinjue-ge? What did you tell him?”

Song Yichen thought of Shen Jinjue. Shen Xingyang had been missing for so long; he must be very worried.

“I happened to run into him at the banquet. He was looking for Shen Xingyang. I told him Shen Xingyang had something to discuss with you and had already returned to Song Manor. He didn’t say anything.”

Shen Jinjue had a lot of faith in Song Yichen.

    “Okay.”

Song Yichen finished speaking, but didn’t hang up. Gu Ze was puzzled.

“Ge, what’s wrong? Is there anything else?”

Song Yichen remained silent for a long time, his mind filled with the scenes of Shen Xingyang in the bathtub earlier.

“Aze, how did you discover you liked men?”

Song Yichen had thought about it for a long time before finally asking the question.

There was a long silence on the other end, unsure whether he was organizing his words or couldn’t believe Song Yichen would ask such a question.

    “Can’t say?”

Song Yichen frowned, his tone somewhat impatient.

“No, it’s just hard to believe you’d ask this kind of question.”

This was Song Yichen, after all. Could his brain possibly contain anything besides medicine? But he still patiently answered Song Yichen.

“How do I put it? It’s like, I was ignorant before, watched some videos with classmates, and then found I didn’t feel anything. Until later, I saw…”

Gu Ze didn’t want to say the rest, but Song Yichen understood what he meant.

He had also had moments of ignorance, had gone through that kind of process, but regardless of the type, he had never had the reaction he had today.

“Ge, why are you asking me this? Don’t tell me you also like men?”

Song Yichen didn’t speak. Gu Ze suddenly thought of what had happened to Shen Xingyang today, his face filled with shock, as if he had stumbled upon a major piece of gossip.

“Ge, how did you help Shen Xingyang today?”

Song Yichen had finally managed to stop thinking about those things from today, but Gu Ze’s exaggerated tone brought them all back.

    “With my hand.”

Gu Ze couldn’t imagine the scene. His abstinent genius cousin, using the hand that held a scalpel to help someone else?

Too shocking, too terrifying, and too stimulating…

“Ge, you’re a doctor. Why didn’t you let him tough it out?”

Didn’t his brother know that this kind of drug could be endured? It would just be a little difficult, but it wasn’t absolutely necessary to help.

Song Yichen didn’t speak, but he really wanted to curse. Didn’t he know that he could have let Shen Xingyang tough it out? Did he need to be told that? Was Gu Ze stupid?

“Ge, you’re done for. You’ve definitely fallen for Shen Xingyang.”

Based on his experience with relationships and his understanding of Song Yichen, his brother must have fallen for Shen Xingyang.

“What nonsense are you talking about? Get lost.”

Song Yichen shouted loudly and slammed the hang-up button.

After he did all this, he realized that, in psychological terms, he had been poked in a sore spot by Gu Ze and was now acting out of embarrassment and anger.

He irritably pounded the pillow on the sofa. Who said that? He hated scheming people the most.

Besides, Shen Xingyang hadn’t even broken up with Yin Yan yet. What was he? Falling for someone else’s boyfriend?

Impossible. He, Song Yichen, was not that kind of person. He must be talking nonsense.

Song Yichen thought this way, but he couldn’t sleep the whole night.

The next day, Shen Xingyang seemed to be avoiding him. He was gone early in the morning. Looking at the empty space, Song Yichen felt even more annoyed. How could he have done such a thing last night?

    “Song Yichen, you beast.”

Song Yichen muttered softly, pouring the milk into his mouth.

“Ayang, why are you here so early today?”

Xiao Qi was surprised to see Shen Xingyang; it was still so early.

Shen Xingyang pulled out a tissue, wiped his red nose, sneezed, and then answered Xiao Qi.

“I woke up early today and came to take care of someone.”

Hearing how hoarse his voice was, Xiao Qi knew that Shen Xingyang had caught a cold again. Shen Xingyang’s health was too poor.

    “Take care of who?”

    “Shen Jinlin.”

Shen Xingyang’s eyes were filled with coldness. It seemed he had been too lenient with Shen Jinlin.

“Aqi, I remember you used to box.”

Xiao Qi nodded, and Shen Xingyang nodded in satisfaction. “Then let’s go. I’ll take you to take care of Shen Jinlin!”

As Shen Xingyang spoke, he led Xiao Qi out the door, pushing it open without even knocking.

“Shen Xingyang, what are you doing?”

Shen Xingyang looked at the assistant next to him. “You, get out.”

The assistant looked at Shen Jinlin, and after receiving his approval, left.

Shen Xingyang glanced at Xiao Qi and went forward to lock the door.

Shen Jinlin wanted to stop him, but Xiao Qi pulled him back and threw him onto the office chair, after which his hands and feet were secured to the chair.

    “Shen Xingyang, you…”

Shen Jinlin angrily shouted Shen Xingyang’s name, wanting to say more, but Shen Xingyang stuffed a large stack of papers into his mouth. Because he stuffed too much, the corners of his mouth were torn, and the nearby paper was stained red.

The paper pressed against his throat, and Shen Jinlin’s desire to vomit reached its peak, but he couldn’t make a sound because his mouth was blocked.

Shen Xingyang grabbed Shen Jinlin’s hair, forcing him to look up at him.

“Shen Jinlin, don’t go courting death. I’ve been putting up with you for a long time.”

As Shen Xingyang spoke, the knife in his hand slowly entered Shen Jinlin’s thigh. Shen Jinlin was frightened by this scene, not even daring to resist, muttering incoherently, probably begging for mercy.

“I’m telling you, I haven’t told my brother about the dirty things you’ve done. Otherwise, you’d only regret being alive.”

Shen Xingyang leaned close to Shen Jinlin’s ear, threatening through clenched teeth, the knife constantly stirring in Shen Jinlin’s wound.

Shen Jinlin struggled in pain, unable to make a sound. This kind of roar could only make his lips tear even more.

“Shen Jinlin, no matter what, you’re still my brother. I don’t want you to die, but you’d better behave yourself and not force me to act again.”

Shen Xingyang said, his eyes ice-cold, slowly pulling the knife out, bit by bit.

He threw the knife aside forcefully, wiped his blood-stained hand on Shen Jinlin’s clothes, and then slowly stood up.

Afterwards, he motioned to Xiao Qi to release him, and without paying attention to Shen Jinlin behind him, he left with Xiao Qi.

As soon as they left Shen Jinlin’s office, Shen Xingyang felt snot flowing out of his nose again, and he looked at Xiao Qi for help.

“Aqi, do you have any more tissues?”

It was all Shen Jinlin’s fault; he had run out of tissues.

Xiao Qi shook his head. “Otherwise, can you hold it in?”

Shen Xingyang rolled his eyes and pulled Xiao Qi to his office, rushing to get the tissues as soon as they arrived.

“I said, how did Shen Jinlin provoke you? You let him off before when he made so many moves, what’s different this time?”

From the moment he arrived at the company, Shen Jinlin had been scheming against him openly and secretly, but he had avoided them all, and therefore, he had never bothered to retaliate.

Actually, it wasn’t that he only took action after being caught this time, but because he was no longer the same him from his previous life, who liked to smooth things over.

Before, when Shen Jinlin didn’t do anything major, he could pretend that the previous events had never happened. But Shen Jinlin shouldn’t have given him the drug, making him so humiliated in front of Song Yichen.

“He drugged me last night and even arranged several good-looking women for me.”

Shen Xingyang had nothing he couldn’t say in front of Xiao Qi.

Xiao Qi looked at Shen Xingyang in disbelief. If it were someone else, it might not be a big deal.

But with Shen Xingyang’s health, let alone arranging so many people for him, even just one, for a little longer, and Shen Xingyang would die from overindulgence.

Shen Jinlin wanted Shen Xingyang to die, and he used such a disgusting method. No wonder Shen Xingyang was so angry.

At this moment, in the hospital, Mu Xun heard Gu Ze’s words and became curious, going to Song Yichen’s office with a gossipy heart.

“Song-laoshi, what have you been doing these past few days? Gu Ze said you’ve been looking for a lot of nutritionists.”

Mu Xun looked down at what Song Yichen was writing, and Shen Xingyang’s name caught his eye.

“Tsk tsk tsk, Gu Ze told me that you like Shen Xingyang. Is it true?”

Mu Xun said softly. He didn’t believe it when he first heard Gu Ze say it, but after coming in and seeing that Song Yichen had even created a diet plan for him, it seemed almost certain.

“That bigmouth Gu Ze. Mu Xun, I’m a person with professional ethics. How could I fall for my own patient? Besides, Shen Xingyang has a partner. How could I like him?”

Song Yichen rolled his eyes. Why was Mu Xun saying the same thing?

Mu Xun raised his eyebrows and looked at Song Yichen. “Yes, Song-laoshi is right.”

Mu Xun finished speaking and turned to leave, but then muttered quietly.

“If you don’t like him, why explain so much? Doesn’t that make you seem even more guilty?”

Song Yichen was so angry he couldn’t stand it. “Mu Xun, what are you saying? Who’s guilty?”

Mu Xun ignored him and walked out on his own. Song Yichen looked at Mu Xun’s departing figure alone, his teeth itching with anger.
