    Chapter 76: Admonition

The dim yellow car lights flickered across his handsome face, a constant interplay of light and shadow. The scenery speeding past outside the window held no interest for him.

He Zhou sat in the driver’s seat, driving the car, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, his face a picture of concentration.

It had been a while, and this time his hair was dyed sky blue. Under the orange streetlights, the color darkened, looking almost silver-white.

His gaze swept over the scene before him, listening to Cheng Yi’s soft words. His pupils flashed with disbelief, and he perked up his ears, eavesdropping discreetly.

    “Good evening.”

Cheng Yi wasn’t wearing headphones, and the man’s voice from the phone echoed in the quiet car. The voice sounded a little cold, but…

Why did this voice sound so familiar?

He Zhou felt like he had heard it somewhere before, but he couldn’t quite place it.

He leaned in closer to listen.

Cheng Yi carefully scrutinized the background in the video. The familiar cement wall and miscellaneous small objects came into view.

His dark eyes darkened almost imperceptibly for a moment, a hazy mist spreading in their depths. He lowered his eyes with a hint of grievance, as if complaining casually, his voice very low and deep. “When did you get home?”

    “You didn’t even tell me.”

He paused, then reminded him, “I just left.”

His eyes were so filled with resentment that it almost materialized.

He stared at the screen without blinking, his eyes full of unspoken subtext.

I just left, and you already don’t love me anymore???

Listening to his coquettish words, Shen Chang’an pursed his lips, his brow furrowing. He looked a little anxious for a moment, his tone gentle and a little hurried as he subconsciously soothed, “I came back in the evening. You hadn’t landed yet at that time. I was thinking of telling you after you landed.”

As he spoke, his brow relaxed, his tone gradually calming down. His voice was calm and clear, yet still gentle. “I just wanted to tell you in person.”

As if describing a very ordinary little thing, Shen Chang’an was very candid. His calm and composed face showed no trace of the awkward shyness that came with opening his heart and speaking his mind.

But he never expected that the person on the other end would blush, his dark eyes blinking rapidly, his gaze avoiding his.

The streetlights approached from afar, only to be quickly left behind by the dazzling sports car. In the brief glimpse of the light, that hint of red was barely noticeable, but Shen Chang’an clearly saw the darting eyes that quickly looked away on their own.

Shen Chang’an blinked, looking at the silent man. He didn’t know what he had done wrong, but he felt like something was wrong with what he had said.

His delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, and his lips tightened.

His eyelashes trembled, and he quickly reflected in his heart. His eyes lit up, and he suddenly realized his mistake.

“I’ll tell you whenever I go in the future. Today’s situation won’t happen again.”

Recalling how happy he felt when he saw Cheng Yi send him a message as soon as he got off the plane, he was indeed very happy.

Treating others as he would like to be treated.

Shen Chang’an thought with some pleasure that Cheng Yi probably wanted him to tell him his whereabouts as soon as possible.

    Reporting in?

This was the way couples maintain their sweetness.

Didn’t Yin Fu APP always recommend these things, such as couples reporting their whereabouts in a timely manner, not being perfunctory with their partners when chatting, paying attention to the emotional state of their other half, and providing emotional value…?

Of course, Shen Chang’an wouldn’t be silly enough to search for these things on Yin Fu. He just saw that Cheng Yi seemed to like watching the APP’s recommended one hundred little tips for couples to get along comfortably.

He just listened in when Cheng Yi was watching.

Who knew that the video was so loud that he heard it all clearly at once, and he still remembered it vividly.

His fair ear tips flushed slightly. Shen Chang’an blinked, feeling a little shy in his heart. He secretly thought that Cheng Yi often watched these videos and nodded from time to time, as if he understood them very well. Now that he heard him say this, he should be very happy, right?

“Mu An, you don’t have to be like this. You can do whatever you want. Don’t force yourself like this.”

Cheng Yi’s hurried voice interrupted Shen Chang’an’s tail that was about to wag in anticipation of praise.

If that tail could be seen.

With a thud, the excited tail ‘slapped’ heavily on the ground.

Shen Chang’an quickly opened his eyelids, his clear eyes narrowing slightly. He stared straight at the black eyes in the camera with a slightly cold expression, his eyes searching. A touch of disappointment flickered imperceptibly in the dark depths of his eyes, gone in an instant.

Cheng Yi looked at him with bright dark eyes, watching him look like he was throwing a tantrum. He just felt his heart soften. If Mu An was right next to him now, he would probably pounce on him directly.

His eyes were full of smiles, and Cheng Yi couldn’t bear to make his proud little fox feel uncomfortable.

He explained his words just now,

“Just be yourself. Text is indeed a bit cold. No matter what happens, I want to hear you tell me in person.”

After a day of rushing around, Cheng Yi’s dark eyes were tired, but his expression was serious, and there was not a trace of falsehood in his eyes.

This was what he was thinking now.

In the beginning, that faint resentment in his heart was magnified on his face. He just wanted to sell some grievances. He originally thought that the other party would lightly skip over it, but he didn’t expect Mu An to care about him so much.

Realizing this fact, Cheng Yi’s heart was instantly filled with love, and his whole person suddenly felt refreshed. His expression was very pleasant, his expression lazy, his eyebrows raised, filled with his confidence and joy.

    ‘He belongs to me’

This thought had flashed through his mind more than once, but never had it been as clear and strong as it was today.

Cheng Yi only felt his heart was lit by something, and the blood in his whole body was hot and boiling. He cleared his throat and straightened his sitting posture, trying to make him more handsome, charming, and attractive in the camera.

The Mu An on the other side didn’t speak, but those clear eyes were looking at the camera a little erratically, and under the white light, the slightly fleshy cheeks were rendered with dotted red clouds, which was very moving.

Whispered sweet words are always pleasant to hear.

Shen Chang’an’s eyelashes fluttered lightly, and he never thought that one day he would be moved by such an ordinary-sounding word.

He had always thought that he was in a very rational relationship.

But looking at the smiling black eyes opposite, Shen Chang’an suddenly realized that the ‘rational’ love in the past two months was just a lie he had deceived his brain with.

Love is the fall of free will…

From the day he realized he had fallen in love with Cheng Yi, there had been no rationality in his mind.

The subtle temptation at the beginning, the step-by-step probing, and finally the ambiguous seduction…

    Shen Chang’an frowned almost imperceptibly.

He seemed to be a little too despicable…

    Was this still him?

His grandfather had high morals, his grandmother was kind and amiable, and his mother was gentle and strong, but the factors hidden in his personality were dark, despicable, and had no similarity to the upright character of this family.

Shen Chang’an’s eyes flickered, and unsurprisingly, he thought of that person in his mind. Suddenly, a hint of disgust rose in his heart, and his fingers curled slightly.

But before the emotions on his face could show, a magnetic voice sounded, and he immediately gathered his mind and looked up at the screen.

    “Have you had dinner?”

    “I ate.”

Shen Chang’an clenched the candy wrapper in his hand, his face unchanged.

The other side didn’t suspect anything.

    “Where’s Grandma? Where is she?”

“Grandma went back to her room. She chatted with Grandma Liu for a while today, so she must be tired.”

“Oh, then did Berber come home?”

Shen Chang’an subconsciously looked upstairs, blinked, and shook his head uncertainly, answering correctly, “I don’t know, I haven’t gone up to see yet.”

Cheng Yi raised his chin slightly, his voice low, gentle, and slowly instructed, “It’s okay if it comes back. If it doesn’t come back and I’m not there, don’t go looking for it alone. It’s probably gone wild somewhere.”

“It’s already familiar with the roads in the village and will come back on its own when it’s hungry.”

    “Okay.”
