    Chapter 57: Never Played Before

The National Day holiday quickly passed. All the sweet potatoes from that plot of land had been harvested. After a day of hard work, Master Cheng returned home and quickly prepared dinner with Master Shen to reward themselves.

Tonight, they were having the stewed chicken. The free-range chicken at home was indeed much firmer than the kind delivered from outside.

At least Cheng Yi ate three large bowls of rice again tonight.

The night was breezy, gently caressing people’s faces, bringing a hint of coolness.

After washing up, Cheng Yi slowly walked upstairs, his footsteps light and quiet. As he pushed open the bedroom door and turned on the light, Berber, as if waiting for him, ran towards him happily and immediately snuggled up beside him.

Berber seemed to be unfamiliar with the surroundings and didn’t run around. He stayed in his cat nest every day, only venturing to Shen Chang’an’s bedroom. Even Grandma, who was home every day, rarely saw him.

Cheng Yi had never raised any small animals before, and wasn’t particularly sensitive to cats and dogs, so he and Berber usually coexisted peacefully in the bedroom, without disturbing each other.

But tonight, no one had fed him dinner yet. Berber meowed softly, circling around Cheng Yi. He tilted his head, his one yellow and one blue eye shining with anticipation as he looked at Cheng Yi.

    This was rare…

Cheng Yi looked down at him, and couldn’t help but jokingly say, “You can be bought off with a little food?”

As he spoke, the corners of his lips curved slightly upward, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes. He squatted down at the door, gently stroking Berber’s head. Then, he stood up and placed the cat food and water Shen Chang’an had prepared for Berber on the ground.

At that moment, the door across the hall was slightly ajar, a bright light shining through the narrow crack, like an arrow of light piercing into the dim hallway.

Accompanied by a soft “creak”, a figure emerged from the opposite room.

Shen Chang’an wore clean and tidy pajamas, his figure slender and upright.

He gently closed the door, his movements elegant and natural.

Hearing the sound, Cheng Yi turned around and saw Shen Chang’an walking towards him. He quickly stood up, slightly shifting his body to give the other person enough space to enter the room.

    “How’s Grandpa?”

Looking at Shen Chang’an’s lightly furrowed brows, Cheng Yi asked with concern, a hint of worry in his eyes.

After entering the room, Shen Chang’an closed the bedroom door tightly. Hearing Cheng Yi’s question, he paused for a moment, then sighed softly.

His usually calm face looked heavy, as if carrying many unspeakable worries.

“He’s fine…” Shen Chang’an slowly said, his calm tone tinged with helplessness and sadness.

He bent down slightly, reaching out to stroke Berber, who was gracefully eating cat food. When Berber glared at him resentfully while eating, he chuckled softly, got up, and sat down on the bed.

“Mu An, do you play games?”

Cheng Yi carefully asked, his concerned gaze falling on Shen Chang’an’s troubled face.

Shen Chang’an sat there quietly, watching Berber happily eat his cat food, his eyes a little dull, as if completely immersed in his own thoughts.

Seeing this, Cheng Yi sighed softly, then slowly walked to Shen Chang’an’s side and sat down.

He turned slightly, facing Shen Chang’an, took out his phone from his pocket, and gently waved it in front of the other person’s eyes, trying to get his attention.

Shen Chang’an was startled by the wave, he blinked his slightly tired eyes, and slowly came back to his senses.

Hearing Cheng Yi’s question, he tried to recall the various games he had played before, and then hesitantly replied, “Um… does Happy Match count? I played that for a while before.”

That was several years ago, during the time right after he finished the college entrance examination. That game was quite popular at the time. He had nothing to do at home, so he downloaded it to pass the time.

The game wasn’t difficult. In less than a month, he had reached over two thousand levels, made it to the national rankings, and left the second place on his friend list far behind. Later, he got bored and stopped playing.

Cheng Yi said in surprise, “Happy Match? That game is really old… You haven’t played King of Glory, League of Legends, or PUBG, any of those?”

Shen Chang’an looked at him with a shocked and puzzled expression, and calmly shook his head, “I’ve heard of them, but I’ve never played them.”

He paused for a moment, his clear gaze quietly fixed on Cheng Yi’s dark eyes, his calm tone with a hint of incomprehension and doubt, “Are these kinds of games fun… Do you want to play them now?”

He reached out and lifted the collar of Cheng Yi’s pajamas. On his fair shoulder, there were one or two reddish marks, bruises from being pressed by the basket these past two days. They probably wouldn’t disappear for a couple of days.

His clear gaze dimmed for a moment, he raised his eyes and looked at Cheng Yi, asking, “Aren’t you tired today?”

“Not tired, my friends like playing King of Glory, so they’re dragging me to rank up with them. Do you want to try it, Mu An? I guarantee I’ll carry you to victory.”

Cheng Yi didn’t pay attention to his movements. His deep black eyes sparkled with light. He couldn’t help but laugh as he recalled the scene when Lin Zhihao and the others cried out for him to carry them at the beginning of the new season.

It wasn’t that Lin Zhihao and the others weren’t good at King of Glory, but the game’s matching mechanism was really suffocating. He and his friends often gathered together to play, so they just ranked up together.

But Cheng Yi’s gaming skills were indeed the highest among them. Not long after the new season started, his account had already reached over seventy stars in Glory rank. He hadn’t played for a while, so he probably lost some stars.

    “Then I’ll download it.”

“But… what if you can’t carry me to victory?”

Shen Chang’an lifted his eyelids and looked at Cheng Yi, asking.

He felt that his learning ability was so good, that he should be able to easily master King of Glory, but he was really a complete newbie after all. What if he really sucked and dragged Cheng Yi down…

Cheng Yi’s slightly raised eyebrows twitched lightly. His deep, ink-like eyes sparkled with bright light, as dazzling as the bright stars in the night sky.

Confidence overflowed in his eyes. He opened his well-defined lips and said in an extremely arrogant tone, “Impossible, don’t worry, I will definitely give you a full sense of experience!”

Seeing his confident look, Shen Chang’an felt relieved, “Okay, then I’ll download it.”
