Chapter 103: Actually, I’m Not Yun Yi

But there’s always a time to be discovered.

After Yun Yi fell asleep, Jiang Qiu got up and went to the small room he used to occupy.

The small room had been turned into a study, filled with everything related to Yun Yi.

He didn’t dare close the door, afraid he wouldn’t hear Yun Yi wake up in time.

Yun Yi had drunk a lot of milk tea that night and reached out to touch the spot beside him when he woke up to use the washroom.

    It was ice-cold.

No one was in the washroom either.

The entire third floor was covered in carpet, so footsteps were silent.

The third floor was empty, with only the light on in the room at the end of the hallway.

Yun Yi followed the light and saw Jiang Qiu busily working with a carving knife through a crack in the door.

Two white bottles were on the table, one of which he knew well – the one Jiang Qiu always fed him.

Yun Yi simply pushed the door open and walked in.

Jiang Qiu had no chance to hide anything. He directly asked, “What is this?”

Jiang Qiu got up to meet him, and seeing Yun Yi naked, quickly grabbed a blanket to wrap him up. “Why are you awake?”

“Jiang Qiu, you haven’t answered me yet,” Yun Yi stubbornly asked.

When he didn’t get an answer, he walked towards the table.

After seeing the name on the bottle, he clutched his chest, gasping as if he had lost his voice.

“Xiao Yi, I didn’t want to hide it from you. Sleeping pills aren’t good for your health. I asked the doctor, and you…”

“So, I replaced the vitamins with sleeping pills and fed them to you. See, hasn’t Xiao Yi been sleeping well these past few days?”

A pill, no bigger than the tip of a finger, had two letters carved into it. He had been taking it every day for some time, and Jiang Qiu painstakingly carved the letters and fed it to him.

Tears streamed down Yun Yi’s face. He clutched his chest, staring blankly at Jiang Qiu. “Here… it feels like there’s an earthquake.”

Jiang Qiu kissed Yun Yi over and over, telling him he loved him repeatedly.

He guided Yun Yi to reveal the reason for his insomnia.

The sleeping pills would lose their effect the moment they were discovered.

He was so afraid of anything happening to Yun Yi.

“Xiao Yi, it’s not an earthquake, it’s because you love me.”

Yun Yi blinked, his eyes becoming blank. He asked uncertainly, “It’s me… loving you?”

“Yes.” Jiang Qiu carried him back to the bedroom, asking him in a casual tone, “Why couldn’t you sleep before? Was the bed too hard?”

Yun Yi refused to answer, constantly thinking about what Jiang Qiu had just told him.

He reached out and touched Jiang Qiu’s chest, asking very seriously, “When you say you love me, does it feel like an earthquake here too?”

“It does.” Jiang Qiu continued with his earlier question, “Why were you having insomnia, Xiao Yi?”

“You’ve been taking medicine, and your health is improving, so why are you still having insomnia?”

Yun Yi sat on the bed, looking at the man kneeling in front of him, and gently stroked his phoenix eyes. “Do you cry every time after I fall asleep?”

“You look so pitiful with your red eyes, not at all fierce.”

“I won’t sleep, and your eyes won’t be red anymore.”

Jiang Qiu closed his eyes, suppressing the urge to cry.

    Yun Yi loved him.

How could Yun Yi not love him?

The person he had been longing for had finally fallen in love with him.

There was nothing happier in the world than this.

So Jiang Qiu said, “I don’t cry, I just haven’t been resting well.”

“You know I’m a bit slow. The Yun Corporation is difficult to manage, so I have to deal with things every time, which leads to me not resting well.”

“Xiao Yi’s health needs to get better quickly. With you here, I won’t have to work so hard.”

“With you here, the Yun Corporation will definitely be fine.”

Yun Yi refused to let Jiang Qiu continue building a beautiful dream. He moved his hand away. “But I’m going to die soon.”

“Jiang Qiu, I can’t stay with you forever.”

Jiang Qiu forced a smile, grabbing Yun Yi’s hand and placing it back on himself. “No, you won’t. You won’t die.”

He told Yun Yi, somewhat incoherently, that he wouldn’t die.

“My life is divided in half with Young Master. Let’s live together, okay?”

Yun Yi chuckled foolishly, as if he really believed Jiang Qiu’s previous statement.

“Jiang Qiu, why are you so stupid?”

“Yun Yi… please, stay with me for a little longer.” Jiang Qiu held Yun Yi’s hand and cried bitterly, tears streaming down like a dam had broken, like a child who would never receive love again. “Xiao Yi, please don’t be so cruel.”

Yun Yi could always easily shatter Jiang Qiu’s facade.

The coldness built up over the years collapsed at that moment.

So what if he was an S-rank alpha? He could never mark the person he loved most.

Jiang Qiu had searched for every possible cure, even kneeling in every temple in the Alliance District.

But it was useless. Yun Yi’s body was still deteriorating at a rapid pace.

On the rare day when he had some energy, he asked Jiang Qiu to take him to the cemetery to see Yi Qing.

The last time he came, Yun Yi had come alone.

This time, Jiang Qiu carried him.

Yi Qing’s grave hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Jiang Qiu brought red roses and a box of pastries, wiping the tombstone on Yun Yi’s behalf.

Yun Yi sat to the side, holding Jiang Qiu’s hand and telling Yi Qing,

“Mom, look, this is the person I love.”

Yun Yi introduced Jiang Qiu in a very natural tone and even pulled Jiang Qiu down to kneel and kowtow.

As they were leaving the cemetery, Yun Yi leaned against Jiang Qiu’s neck and said, “Buy the plot next to Mom’s grave. I want to be buried next to Mom.”

    Jiang Qiu remained silent.

During this time, he would turn a deaf ear to any mention of Yun Yi’s death.

Yun Yi tugged at Jiang Qiu’s ear. “Buy it, okay?”

    Jiang Qiu still didn’t speak.

Yun Yi added another condition. “I’ll allow you to carve the words ‘Jiang Qiu’s Wife’ on my tombstone.”

“Buy it, okay? I don’t have the strength anymore, otherwise, I wouldn’t bother you.”

Jiang Qiu scoffed. “Yun Yi, you just keep living. When you die, this tombstone will be engraved with ‘The Grave of Jiang Qiu and Yun Yi.'”

    Yun Yi sighed.

He didn’t understand what Jiang Qiu was arguing about.

Could a perfectly fine person really commit suicide for love?

    Whatever.

Yun Yi thought it was fine, it didn’t matter where he was buried. If he kept talking, he felt like Jiang Qiu would cry again, and Jiang Qiu looked ugly when he cried.

He was actually quite afraid of seeing Jiang Qiu’s tears.

Three days later was Yun Yi’s birthday.

After this birthday, Yun Yi would be twenty-four years old.

Jiang Qiu didn’t throw a big party. Like before, he made the cake himself, cooked the dishes himself, and they celebrated this birthday together at the Yun home.

Yun Yi slept for a long time and woke up nestled in Jiang Qiu’s arms, looking at the candles on the cake and smiling. “Birthday wishes really do work, huh?”

“All my previous wishes have come true.”

“Yes, so Xiao Yi should wish for himself to live to be a hundred years old.”

Yun Yi shook his head, reached out, scooped some cream and smeared it on Jiang Qiu’s face. He smiled, closed his eyes, and put his palms together.

“I want Jiang Qiu to live well, even in the days without me, to live to be a hundred years old.”

After he finished speaking, he opened his eyes and blew out the candles.

His pale eyes looked at Jiang Qiu’s face. “Quick, say my wish will come true.”

Jiang Qiu smiled and kissed Yun Yi’s face.

“You always say I’m stupid, who’s the stupidest?”

Yun Yi was dead, so what was he living for? For the cold, unfeeling Yun Corporation?

Yun Yi himself didn’t care, so what was he clinging to?

What he wanted, from beginning to end, was Yun Yi.

Jiang Qiu relit the candles. “This wish doesn’t count. Make another one.”

Yun Yi didn’t make another wish. He wasn’t greedy, one wish was enough.

The candles weren’t extinguished. Yun Yi took the knife and, bypassing the candles, cut the cake himself, giving Jiang Qiu a big piece. “Here, it’s for you!”

Jiang Qiu didn’t force Yun Yi. He took the cake, scooped up a spoonful, and put it in his mouth but couldn’t swallow it.

His throat was constricted, and even a little bit of cake felt like it could suffocate him.

Yun Yi didn’t eat much either. He didn’t like sweets anyway, and he stopped after tasting a bit.

He always wanted to say a lot to Jiang Qiu, but it seemed like everything had been said during this time.

In the flickering candlelight, he remembered the most important thing.

“Jiang Qiu, let me tell you a secret.”

    “Actually… I’m not Yun Yi.”
