Chapter 41: Do You Like This?

Madam Yi instructed the servants to add more tableware, saying to Yun Yi, “Xiao Yi, drink up properly, it’s going to get cold.”

The milk was specially prepared for Yun Yi by the kitchen at Madam Yi’s request, fresh milk delivered from the farm.

It was a bit fishy, which Yun Yi didn’t like.

But the feeling of being loved was too good, so Yun Yi nodded and gulped down half a glass. The fishy taste made his nose wrinkle, and he stuck out the tip of his tongue where Madam Yi couldn’t see.

Yi Lin had been paying attention to Yun Yi and naturally didn’t miss Yun Yi’s disgusted expression.

The corner of his mouth twitched slightly, his eyes flashing with amusement and restraint. He reached out and placed his hand on the glass in front of Yun Yi, “Mother, is there only milk for Xiao Yi?”

“Yes, yes, yes… Oh my! Look at you, why are you snatching Xiao Yi’s milk!”

Yun Yi watched the glass being drained and gave Yi Lin a “you’re a good person” look.

Yi Lin received the signal and placed a braised chicken leg on Yun Yi’s plate, “Want to try it?”

Yun Yi didn’t feel like eating after being overwhelmed by the fishy milk, but reluctantly took a bite.

    “Is it good?”

Yun Yi thought it was just okay, not wanting to disappoint his little uncle who seemed to be looking forward to it, “It’s good.”

The last time Yun Yi came to the Yi family was when he was fifteen. Although his old clothes were still kept, they were much too small.

Yi Lin skipped work for an afternoon and took someone straight to his usual studio.

Yun Yi wasn’t very interested and casually pointed out a few white short sleeves. As a row of clothes were being pushed away, Yun Yi’s attention was drawn to a model nearby.

The model was wearing a light blue shirt with a black tie around the neck, and a silver chain above it, a bit flashy.

Yi Lin followed Yun Yi’s gaze, “Xiao Yi, do you like this?”

Yun Yi nodded, looked up, and tugged at Yi Lin’s sleeve. Watery glass-like eyes stared at him, “Want to buy it.”

Yi Lin looked down at the slender fingers on his cuff. When their eyes met, he was momentarily stunned by Yun Yi’s clear eyes.

The kid whose bad temper used to give everyone headaches had changed.

He had become so well-behaved and likable.

Yi Lin had no reason to refuse and pointed to the blue shirt, “Wrap it up.”

The clothes were packed, along with the tie, but not the silver necklace.

Yun Yi grabbed the necklace on the table and looked at Yi Lin again, “Want to buy this.”

    “Buy it.”

The necklace wasn’t wrapped up. Yun Yi held it in his hand, playing with it. The joy on his face couldn’t be hidden.

A small bell hung from the bottom of the necklace. When held in the hand and shaken, it made a crisp sound.

Yun Yi’s eyes lit up instantly.

It would suit Jiang Qiu so well.

Yi Lin looked at the child in front of him, his voice slowed, his tone magnetic and gentle, completely different from when he was at work, “Is there anything else Xiao Yi likes?”

Yun Yi shook the necklace, his eyes filled with sparkling light. He asked the shop assistant next to him, “Do you have a matching chain? I want a one-meter one.”

A necklace with a long chain.

Yi Lin, who wouldn’t change his expression even if Mount Tai collapsed in front of him, twitched slightly at the corner of his mouth.

What kind of quirks had this child, Yun Yi, picked up over the years?

In the end, the long chain wasn’t bought. Yi Lin packed a whole trunk of clothes.

As the car drove towards the Yi family home, Yun Yi suddenly told the driver to stop. He pointed to someone outside wearing a mascot costume and turned to look at Yi Lin, “What is that?”

    “A mascot.”

    “Want to buy it.”

    “…That can’t be bought.”

Yun Yi leaned back in the seat, still clutching the necklace in his hand. He shook it, and the sound of the bell rang in the narrow car.

After glancing at Yi Lin, he got out of the car without a word.

Yi Lin pushed up his glasses and smiled helplessly as he watched Yun Yi’s back.

Although he hadn’t seen Yun Yi in person in recent years, because of Madam Yi’s longing, a private detective would send a few photos of Yun Yi to his phone every week.

He had seen Yun Yi in so many ways, and he had watched this child grow from being so young to the way he was now.

In other words, he had almost watched Yun Yi grow up.

He could guess Yun Yi’s every move. Now, walking out of the car without saying a word was undoubtedly a sign of anger.

Yi Lin was worried and got out of the car, following behind Yun Yi.

In the end, he couldn’t resist Yun Yi, and an hour later, he put a mascot costume in the trunk.

Yun Yi stood next to the car, squinting his eyes as he ate the ice cream in his hand, looking content.

Probably disliking the cold, he wouldn’t take big bites, eating it little by little. In the hot summer, it was melting quickly onto his fingers. Yun Yi quickly licked it and looked at Yi Lin, who was about to get into the driver’s seat, and said leisurely, “Little Uncle, can you wear it for me when you get back?”

    Yi Lin: “…”

Jiang Qiu never would have imagined that he would be faced with an empty third floor when he returned. When Zhang Ma heard Jiang Qiu’s voice, she walked out from the first floor and looked at Jiang Qiu, who looked anxious, and said, “Don’t look for him, Young Master is not at home.”

“Where did he go?” Jiang Qiu felt his throat was dry. It was too abnormal. Zhang Ma’s eyes were red, and it felt like the Young Master’s presence had suddenly disappeared from the house.

    “The Third District.”

Jiang Qiu remembered that the Third District was where Yun Yi’s maternal grandma’s house was. “Then you…”

Zhang Ma wiped her tears, “Young Master said he wouldn’t be coming back, that he would stay in the Third District.” She took a breath and continued, “He didn’t explicitly tell us to leave the Yun family, but… he said there would be no wages. Young Master really isn’t planning to come back.”

Jiang Qiu stood on the steps of the staircase on the first floor. Hearing this, he clenched his fist. He shook his head with a stiff face, “That’s not possible.”

After saying that, he strode upstairs. After opening the iron box and seeing the milk candy, his desire to find Yun Yi reached its peak.

Just a few days ago, he had savored this milk candy carefully. It had only been a day, and the Young Master had left him, going to a place hundreds of kilometers away.

    Jiang Qiu couldn’t bear it.

He had always thought that avenging his mother was the only reason he was alive, but unknowingly, Yun Yi had taken the highest place.

Yun Yi was important, so important that he could give up everything for him.

Jiang Qiu took his ID and walked out, dialing Yun Yi’s phone number over and over again, but none of the calls went through.

It wasn’t that he was rejecting the calls, but that no one was answering.

What was the Young Master busy with? Had he eaten dinner yet at this late hour?

Jiang Qiu didn’t know, but not being able to see Yun Yi made him feel restless and flustered.

He wasn’t afraid that Yun Yi wouldn’t come back, but he was afraid that Yun Yi would find a new personal servant.

There were no direct flights that day. Jiang Qiu transferred from one vehicle to another, and finally arrived at the Third District in the middle of the night.

Compared to the Alliance District, the Third District was a bit more barren. Many of the tall buildings had their lights off, not as brightly lit as the nights in the Alliance District.

Arriving at the Yi family home, Jiang Qiu wasn’t in a hurry to knock on the door.

It was midnight now, Yun Yi must be asleep. If he was woken up halfway through his sleep, the Young Master wouldn’t be able to sleep.

    Later, wait until dawn.

But things didn’t go as planned. The Yi family had surveillance cameras, and an alarm would sound automatically when someone approached.

Jiang Qiu had only stood there for five minutes when the Yi family gate opened, and a man in black walked out. He was burly and had a thick waist, radiating an intimidating alpha aura.

Jiang Qiu’s eyes were cold and unafraid, “Hello, I’m Yun Yi’s servant. The Young Master asked me to come and find him.”

The man in black immediately restrained his aura, “Name?”

    “Jiang Qiu.”

The extent to which Yun Yi was loved in the Yi family was such that even the Yi family servants knew who served by Yun Yi’s side.

The man in black stepped aside, giving way to the entrance. Jiang Qiu walked in, his eyes surveying, trying to find any information about the Young Master’s presence here.

But there was nothing in the living room that belonged to Yun Yi. Only a mascot costume that seemed out of place was placed next to the sofa, which looked like something Yun Yi would like.
